Mods are really doing their job

  1. Doesn't mean we should expect less out of staff just because they have lives. We all do. I work two jobs, and still manage to get on nearly every day. If they are not capable of devoting enough time to moderating, they should not be moderators. It's that simple. nothign against them, and when they CAN do their jobs they do a great job. But if they dont have the time, then maybe its time to find somebody who does.

  2. We're always on the lookout for good staff. It takes a specific type of person and not just anyone will fit our mold. We have a special thing going here with EMC and the EMC staff and simply "wanting to help" doesn't make them fit that mold.

/report and /ignore are your own personal moderators and they are there 24/7. :)
  3. Those only work if there is someone on to respond (See above post) :p

  4. No, they go into a que and as soon as a staff member sees it, it gets looked at. If a mod isn't on during the report, it doesn't just go away. Also, the /ignore is the part that removes the problem for you 100% on the spot, mod on or not.
  5. It feels like a cop out to simply ignore the problem rather than fix it. And /report doesn't solve the problem immediately, is what people are complaining about. Sometimes stuff goes on four hours before action is finally taken.

I'd rather sit through somebody talkign crap to me and try to get them to stop then simply ignore them and have to listen to phantom conversations of people still replying to them. It just seems... weird.

  6. Well, I can't really give you an answer you'll be happy with then, I'm sorry. Like I've said, before I've reported people in other games I play and don't EVER see a response, on major game services and smaller games. Until we can find a way to clone ourselves and be on the computer 24/7, I can't really do much to make you happy. :(
  7. You did your best Ice. Dont feel ashamed, feel happy. Your a wonderful Admin. :)
  8. Wonderful is right. Not only is he the best staff member I've ever dealt with, he is also a wonderful friend.:)

  9. Just got to develop a system likes this... A screwdriver with a usb cable or something in the brain, hooked to a computer running Minecraft.
  10. Again, nobody is saying the staff does a bad job. We are saying there are gaps in moderation coverage we would like to see more fully covered. Maybe mods in different timezones / different countries.

  11. This whole thread reminds so much of grade school. The same kind of bickering during recess with 8 y.o. boys ("Teacher!, Teacher! Tommy is being mean to me!!!".)

This is a great site. I've been on many others and none quite have that right balance that makes the game enjoyable.
This whole thing about people leaving, is not really about the empire structure...it's about people moving on to other things ("hey Jack finally got a girlfriend!") in life.

I sincerely know of no other multi-player site where the moderators are as responsible and vigilant, as well as letting the players have a level of freedom and self-responsibility. Sure, sometimes things fall through the cracks and injustices arise. That's all part of life kids. Some players are mature enough to realize that and the rest will grow to learn.

This is a good place, - for kids, adults, families. It is stimulating, enriching, and in some ways, parallels real life.

Chill guys! Enjoy the good things about the experince...let the other things slide. You'll be a lot happier.
  12. Resting on your laurels is the quickest path to destruction. I'm sure the Staff expects better things out of them. Why is it so wrong of us to, as well? Some of us pay money for this server. Noone is saying we dislike the staff or they don't do a good job. They just could do better. We are not out of line or "Childish" to expect the best out of a service, and if the Staff expects any less of themselves, then that is just a shame.

  13. I'm just trying to say, it's not as easy as just "appoint people to mod" I am always on the lookout for who I think will fit us right. Sure it doesn't mean we have 10,000 mods, but the ones we have are good. We're doing the best we absolutely can, you can either believe me or not...but asking for what we're already doing in multiple threads won't make it happen faster. :)

  14. At the same time it is not unexpected for people to vent stress where others can agree with them. There ARE problems. And we know you are working to fix them, but that doesn't make them any more real. I doubt anybody expects any of these forum posts to actually EFFECT anything in a realistic sense. They are venting stress. Showing their displeasure.

Again, nobody has said any of the staff is doing a bad job, or not acting to the best of their abilities.

At the same time conversation about issues is healthy. It brings out the best in our problem solving abilities to speak in a large forum (oh, oh! Thats where the word comes from! :p) Don't take anything that anybody says as personal. When they complain, they aren't attacking you as a person. They want better, and if you cant provide that as of right now, oh well. Tell them that, and move on. You really dont owe any of us explanations on the jobs the staff is doing.

  15. I believe the only way to actually have a moderator on every day for 24 hours would be to replace us with soul-less robots. I don't think any of us want that to happen. :p
  16. It would be helpful to have mods coming on as soon as others get off though. Almost like an accidental schedule.

  18. I don't take it personal of course, but I am trying to keep control. The issue is one that has been answered a few times and there isn't much more we can do than we already are. When new people join the site and see threads like this, it gives them a bad idea of what really happens here. Sure it's a bit political in that sense, but it's not like we're hiding the problem, we answer it all the time very publicly. I will make an official post with this answer though so we can direct the negative posts to them with a direct answer. :)

  19. have you considered sub- mods, with less powers but still pretty darn cool?
like bots! just make them dumb enough so they dont take over EMC and slave you and justin so then every member is forced to build giant statues of their code to span the skies...
there i go again, me and my caffeine.
  20. I, for one, welcome our new sub-mod overlords.
