  1. I didn't create this guide. I took it from the minecraft forums to help anyone have problems with the game.
    ScarTheNinja and Slip_Stream like this.
  2. Another Guide i found:

  3. There is a much shorter way and you guys won't believe it... just Force Update trust me it always worked for me :)
  4. i have one problem with this.I cant find my minecraft folder anywhere
  5. ahh ok. your game files are located in the %user%/appdata/roaming/.minecraft folder
  6. ok i think i got it
  7. Optifine or Magic launcher help. Both of them together are what I use. :)
  8. Force update will only change the the items and folders in the bin file

What this means is that if you happen to have a mod that runs from your "mods" folder and you force update you will still crash if the mod required modloader, modloadermp, etc.

Why? It's because the mods folder and the mods within it were not deleted by the force update, though modloader, modloadermp were because they were in the minecraft.jar, which as I said before was reset, removing the modloader, modloadermp, etc. classes, which causes you to crash on even a clean, freshly updated Minecraft game
  9. I hope that made sense
  10. An alternative to this is as follows: Windows 7

    -Xms[RAM]M minimum | -Xmx[RAM]M maximum
    1GB 1024
    2GB 2048
    3GB 3072
    4GB 4096
    5GB 5120
    6GB 6144
    7GB 7168
    8GB 8192

Start-> Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Java -> Java -> View ->
    Runtime parameters: -Xms512M -Xmx1024M

That way one doesn't have to create a .bat file.

  11. Thanks alot for this guide! It really helped me out!
  12. That guide was better than a YouTube video guide
  13. It isn't usefull dot me jet, but I'm almost sure it will be usefull in the future, thenk you for posting this :D

  15. eehh, oops.. I wasn't such active in 2012 so I didn't see it I think... annyways, it is great to have such a tread on forums :p
  16. 2011* almost all of this is outdated.

  17. It's stickied anyway so it doesn't really matter if it's bumped or not - it's always at the top.
  18. I feel like most of this is outdated. What does someone with more knowledge of current causes of Minecraft crashes think?
  19. 8 year old info tends to be.
  20. But pinned info does not and should not!
