I almost put this under a new "promo" item but it really isn't... ...kinda. So my thought is to allow people to buy the town biome change as an item. Initially just thinking a renamed sheet like a supporter, vault, etc... are. However, with the DDTT, maybe it should be a renamed other item but that is hardly the important part. Simply put, this could also be sold as a supporter purchase item at say 5.00 per voucher. It could also have a /command to buy with tokens like the avalauncher possibly... Thats it, anyway, I'm out! thanks
Okay - I think this is really cool, and I would support the creation of this item. However - There's one thing bugging me, and that's that tokens do barely anything. You can change your biome but once that's set all you can do it buy avalaunchers. This could invalidate tokens, or just make them less useful... But this could still work if tokens did other things... If tokens did other things, then this would be a great alternative for people who want to save their tokens for something else. I like this idea though.
Anything that is bought with tokens is not eligible to become an item that may exchange for irl money. This prevents the tokens from ever having a set dollar value and maintains that they are not exchangeable between accounts. Suggestion denied.
Thanks Krysyy, though the idea of having it be a supporter purchased item was a very slim part of this request. Avalauncher's can be auctioned, traded, etc... My suggestion was mainly on can we have a "voucher" for "Residence Biome Change" like other vouchers? Thanks for your continued consideration.
I guess I don't really see a purpose for this, since you can simply use the change biome command. 5k tokens really isn't that much either, some voting and other stuff will get you that many pretty quickly.
Hmmm, I don't think I knew this was a command... Let me do some searching. ...and I don't disagree on some of that, but it would make it easier to assist newer players wanting this option or maybe on alts that are newer or possibly are not used much. I think this does change my thoughts as I was thinking it required a staff member to do it. Thanks!
I know it has already been denied, but there's one point that I'd really like to comment on nonetheless: True, and this is an argument which is raised with many other games too. But always ask yourself this: is easier also better? Right now someone can land on a residence, look at the ugly grass (a desert biome for example) and all of a sudden they have a new goal to work for: earning 5k tokens in order to change the biome. Or, as Tom already mentioned, ask someone else to do that for them (but getting the tokens yourself is probably cheaper). My point though: what if they landed on a residence and then could "simply" change the biome? Where's the challenge? A game is only fun if you have challenges to overcome. Without challenges it wouldn't be much of a game anymore. And sure, sometimes it's disappointing. When I first started playing Aikar had just released the option to get an Avalauncher for, I believe, 20k tokens (if I remember correctly the price got lowered at some time, but I could be mistaken). The point though: I didn't have 20 or 10k tokens. And I wanted an avalauncher badly I voted, I went out into the waste, fought custom mobs, I worked pretty hard. And didn't make it. Even that stupid Blizzard wouldn't give me one So can you imagine how special it felt when I suddenly won an avalauncher several months later (I believe it was during the Santa's special little helper, but I'd have to look it up)? I still have that specific avalauncher That would never have been a thing if it was easier to get tokens. Sure, I didn't like it at that time but when looking back... And that's something you should always keep in mind when working with games: easier isn't always better, because: where's the challenge?
Lots cut out but the important parts left... This request was not going to make it any easier to obtain, but rather it would allow yet another item to have a conversion to rupees. If I took my tokens and purchased X many residence biome change vouchers, it's no different than using tokens to get an avalaucher to sell. So a new player may not have rupees or tokens, but they will be able to reach 20k rupees before hitting 10k tokens. It does allow a use for tokens, the ability to gain some rupees and now they can be auctioned, traded and sold in shops like other vouchers. Anyway, as you noted it was denied and I was able to use the command to do it myself. I was not aware of that and thought I needed staff. My thought was this gave a way to purchase it and allow use as well. I find myself able to accept both sides of this addition but I also think the cons are not as negative as noted and we already have a precedence set by the avalaucher for a token to rupee conversion rate.
For you, true. But not for the player who might be handed such a voucher or those who could then purchase one for, say, 500r. For them this would become a whole lot easier. Tokens are weird like that But that's also what makes them interesting for me. If you need one more change (for example because you're working on a multi-res. building) then drop me a PM. I'd be happy to help you out with that, your shop has helped me out plenty of times over the past (I know it's just business but I don't care about that. There's also something as effort to keep things running!). That I can agree with. But you know the drill I hope... Don't let this discourage you from sending in new suggestions! Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Consider this another example of those challenges I mentioned above (no pun intended).
