Hi gang! Have you ever been near a mine before? For example something like this: The problem should be obvious: it's dark in there so (hostile) mobs will spawn and it'll be a matter of time before they get bored and decide to go after you. That's no good. Now, one solution could be to light the whole thing up, and I agree, but if you decided / promised / etc. not to explore this on your own you're left with a problem. But no more! The wall of the waste: keeping all those pesky mobs out without taking away the view In case you're wondering: this goes from y34 all the way up to y68 That 2nd iron door is for added security, I spotted some mossy cobble up there, which hints at loot chests and a mob spawner. So yeah... extra safety measures were required And in case some of you suffer from a scare of heights, not to worry! A second, alternative, way to get up there has been provided as well As you can see, this is all you need to enjoy your mining session in safety
To be honest I don't have time to be bored I just build my very first (ever) mob farm! And the best part: it got confirmed that it actually worked That mob spawner I thought was there? Ayups, this is what the room looks like now: We build a chute: And it drops mobs here: You know what? Come check it out if you feel like it, I'll put up signs to the mob farm
Anti-climax! So yeah.... There goes the massive cave I was expecting But at least my 'Wall of Waste' looks cool from back there: Onto the next project
What you are referring to as a mine is actually a ravine, as seen here: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Generated_structures#Ravine I am under the impression that an actual mine would be like this : http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Generated_structures#Abandoned_mineshaft It is cool that you are endeavoring to implement safety measures for your mining expeditions though. If only all explorers were thoughtful of their fellow adventurers. The wall did look nice though.
