  1. IPs are based off of your internet provider. So unless you changed internet providers or messed around with your router/modem, your IP will be the same with any computer you own.

  2. Thanks.
  3. It heavily depends on the provider and kind of Internet connection though. It's not uncommon for an Internet service provider (ISP) to use so called dynamic IP addresses. In other words: addresses which can change on a whim.

This becomes especially true if they don't give you a 'real' public IP address (long story, it boils down to all customers sharing a specific range of addresses) or if your connection fully uses the next Internet standard called IPv6 (then you normally use an 8 digit IP address which can get 'translated' to IPv4 whenever required).

Normally what you're saying is absolutely true, but it doesn't always apply.

In general, a good way to check is to use a website such as whatismyipaddress.com.

  4. I'm curious what this note is now
  5. Appeal Granted...
  6. I saw a person post on youtube how he hacks people's accounts. It was on my phone, not here but When I watched it it made me sick. He took on the owners persona, his admins and proceeded to burn, kill, destroy the server he hacked. Thankfully EMC is a protected community. It made me so sick to see people do that.

  7. I would honestly go on a whim and say the majority of the videos you see on YouTube are probably faked/staged anyway, but that's just my view.
  8. Something to be aware of though... A majority of those people don't 'hack'. They're merely using pre-made programs which were designed to find (and exploit) weaknesses in systems. These types of people are also often referred to as script kiddies, because in most cases all they really do is fire up a script which does the work for them.

Back in the days I was heavily active on IRC I've exploited the lack of expertise and knowledge of such guys tremendously. For example... I have no issue sharing with everyone that my IP address is 127.133.17.248. This has wrecked havoc on many of those script kiddies who immediately entered the IP in their flooding / hacking utility kit, only to get thrown offline themselves.

  9. Agreed however I watched for for 40 mins watching him hack any server he could. He spent 10 mins at speed up time showing just how to hack. I wasn't watching to learn.. Well yea I was because I want EMC to never be hacked. Yes, servers are down now but that's not a huge prob. Of course I wanna get on but you guys got this. As far as his hack, it was unprotected hacks. I look it up again to share If wanted.
  10. Seems ShelLuser ninja'd me but has a valid point and I trust him inexplicably.

However, I saw a hacker hack and it made me sick. IDC who's server that was!!!

  11. So basically info that is already public (TEXP) or info you would put out on town chat without breaking a sweat (peeps compare/talk about their rupee balances all the time). Granted if you are one of the rare players with a high rupee balance this could potentially make you a slightly more attractive target for hacking but only by players that
    Shiny!
That was my initial reaction too but on the other hand it means it wasn't any of my now ex-friends or any of the people I have personally pissed off/reported over the years.
  12. Ok well it didn't seem that obvious in the OP :p
  13. Wow. Is this what happened to my friend runner_upper? He got banned 2 Days and 12 Hours ago. Was he banned by that hacker?

A Few months ago, one of the records sites I participate in (Wii-Records) got it's Forum Server Data Leaked and my Password was there. Someone who also got hacked made it his job to try to find people who haven't gotten hacked yet and notify them. If it wasn't for that guy, Many of my accounts could have been inaccessible by me. Though I did get hacked by some "Seagull Squadd" who change my Profile pic to seagulls and Changed my "description" of all the sites they could access to "hacked by SEAGULL SQUADD", They didn't change any passwords. I immediately changed all my passwords of those accounts to unique ones. Ever since then, I kept getting reports of people trying to access my accounts (but failing).
after a bit of research, I found out a few things about the Data Leak. It was leaked to a Hacker Site that specializes in trying to find weak websites and using the passwords and accounts there to get access to more important accounts on other sites. They post any Data Leaks to that Site which is a community of Hackers (Parasites really, ready to feed). I know of the site, but I could not access it. They even have a twitter. They go by siph0n (the O is a Zero).

This helped me learn that I should use Different Passwords for every different site and account I use. I can just memorize them, but for others who may not remember easily, I suggest using an Index Card or Sticky Note and writing a unique password for each account, and keeping that info in a safe place. Once you don't need to recall on the Index Card or Sticky Note, You can rip it up and discard it.

  15. Runner_upper was banned for use of illegal mods (as shown in /p runner_rupper) deliberately by an EMC staff member, not by the hacker.
    Perry_Stahlsis and 607 like this.
  16. Ah. That is unfortunate. :/
Thanks for letting me know. What mod was he using?
  17. The illegal kind...

  18. It wasn't a in-game thing. This user got access to accounts who had moderation privileges and gained information. (Hinting why it was a data leak) That is very vague but that is what happened.
  19. He's not talking about the data leak, he's talking about a friend of his that got banned.

  20. Basically Edward Snowden.
