  1. No man's sky is a sci-fi game, similar to Minecraft, in the sense that it will have a virtually infinitely generated world. You are an explorer: every star in the sky must be mapped out, every planet must be visited, or a pirate: your purpose is riches, stealing other players goods, or a merchant: obtaining riches through the 'art of the deal' (so to speak ;)), or really anything you want to be! Every star in the sky is a sun which you can travel to. It is a massively multiplayer online game, meaning you can share the experience with anyone you choose. Notably, it was awarded Game Awards' "Most Anticipated Game" award.

The release date is the 7th of August! Who else is hyped!?
  2. Of course I've heard about No Man's Sky before! It's a really big thing!
I also really appreciate it, it's a very nice project!
  3. That looks awesome! This game reminds me of star wars. Some of the walkers and ships look the same. :) I will be looking out for this one.
  4. I know the thread is old but I still felt the need to respond.

I guess the aftermath of One Man Sky has taught us once more that getting the hype up for a game is a very good way to promote something which doesn't have to be as great during it's release. It is also for that reason why I'm not pre-ordering games anymore, ever. The last ones being Watchdogs and GTA V.

For those unfamiliar with the whole thing: the problem was that this game became repetitive really quick, and although you could visit hundreds of planets it didn't really provide hundreds of different planets. Which resulted in players having to do some pretty repetitive things.

I read on some gamesites that this game had huge sell rates when it got releases, that a lot of players have been playing it but after only one month or so the game also got one of the steepest 'drop out' rates, in England around 80% of players stopped playing it after no longer than a few weeks past the initial release.

Rumor even has it that this game is currently under investigation for allegedly have used "misleading advertisement".

With the modern industry today I think you really need to be careful with basing your opinion on a future game on solely the things which the developer releases. Obviously they want you to think positive about it no matter what. Better to wait after release and then take another closer look at it.
