  1. What I don't understand is, why does the US need guns so badly?

Every other developed nation does not have this culture where guns are so easily accessible, and where those who own guns are so protective of them.

Why can all the other nations of the world survive from day-to-day without guns, yet the US alleges they can't?
  2. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/12/omar-mateen-id-d-as-orlando-killer.html

Based upon this psycho's documented history I don't think he was making a statement about the Second Amendment or Donald Trump.

A heartbreaking, horrific incident. Unfortunately it seems like that they're becoming more and more common.
  3. I don't think the attack was against the sexuality of the bar. It was just a place with a lot of people and made a great target for the gunman.
  4. There are reports that the gunman pledged allegiance to the so-called 'Islamic State', who are notoriously anti-LGBT. They have thrown gay people off buildings, and likely committed other unspeakable atrocities against LGBT people.

This prospect is not to be ruled out easily.
  5. We can only speculate until all the facts come out.

  6. I'm afraid the US is not as advanced as other countries. We tend to be a violent, war mongering society. There are many examples of this. Our favorite sport is football, the violent version. We continue to execute people. And we love to invade other independent countries to overthrow their governments. We have made advances such as with gay marriage but we have a long way to go when it comes to our love of firearms.

  7. On Dutch media I read that the guy got outrageous outraged earlier when he saw 2 men kissing each other in a street. According to that same article he was also known by the FBI and "on their radar" for his allegiance with IS.

Problem is: everyone is saying just about everything right now and if there's one thing I know from the media it's that they're not always as reliable as they sometimes appear to be. Rumor also has it that he called 911 before shooting, I suppose once those tapes show up then we'll really get some clues as to the nature of it all.

Even so: this is all speculation and doesn't change the fact that 50 people are now dead because of some <censored>.

My sympathy goes out to the family of the victims :(

  8. Also beware what you read in a internet news report about events like this. The authors are so disconnected from actual events they must often result to partial quotes of witness speculation.

What I'm saying is to watch the phrasing. Read it carefully. The author wrote the article, who is the author quoting and what did that person really say?

It often as convoluted as saying, "JesusPower2 says that ShellUser heard a rumor that the suspect called 911 before shooting." In reading that, can you really know if the suspect called 911? The "fact" is so far removed from the person attributed to it (JP2).

  9. there was also a gunman found trying to get into LA pride, had explosives on them. be careful anyone going to any pride this month
  10. Had a whole post about armed civilians stopping crowd shootings and gun control, but I realized that the only people commenting here are the ones who already have opinions. No forum discussion is going to sway that, and I would be wasting your time by trying to explain things from my perspective.

Innocent people died, which is a tragedy beyond words. Anything else I might want to say about my opinions is just ego stroking.

  12. Isn't American football just less violent rugby
American football has the helmet. Rugby has no protection
  13. Have you seen American football? And it is rugby the most popular sport there? Are there rugby players that make 50 million a year? American football has helmets based on necessity. If there were no helmets because it is so violent many people would die.

  15. here in the US we have a Constitution that was written at the beginning of the country that states that citizens have the right to bare arms. of course people like to say arguments of "this was written so people could hunt" which 1: in that time period if you didn't hunt or fish, you didn't eat, and 2: it was written to protect ourselves for another tyrannical government (we see how well that works now, but that's another story).

but like you've stated, people not having guns has created victims. just because something is illegal doesn't mean it will get rid of it from the country. look at drugs. if those are illegal why do we still have access to them? (waits for someone to argue that drugs are irrelevant to this)

i kind of wish they would make guns illegal in America. maybe then people will wake up and take this country back from the so called "elites" that make and enforce laws on the citizens, but yet they are somehow excluded from those laws.

  16. You are good, the most is $40 million for a single year. Drew Brees 2012. I was way off. You guys are making me believe the US is not that violent. Thanks.
    TuckerAmbr and ESSELEM like this.
  17. That's again incorrect. Brees is making an absurd 30 million this year. His contract was backloaded meaning more money is paid at the end of the contract rather than the start of it.
I meant from their football contracts
