The Car Love Thread!

  1. I assume that this is your first car? A 2.0 turbo is amazing as a first car! Compared to us in the UK at least, because anything over 1.6L will cost you an arm and a leg on insurance costs! I decided to see how bad it would be if I got a 2.2L Audi UR quattro turbo from the 80's as a first car - if I was registered as the owner and the only driver on the car then there were about 10 companies willing to insure me for £5,000 a year ($7,847) and there were about 110 companies that said that they wouldn't insure me at all :p

Anyway, yes, 2.0 turbo, very nice ;) I mean, I'm not going to tell you that this Volvo is a supercar and can tear up any car down at the track, but this is decent as a first car, nice! Thanks for sharing, Conner! :D

    PS: Darn street sweepers :(

  2. Yea, I got her for a decent deal. I only paid $3,400 for it off of craigslist :p The interior is black leather and in pretty darn good condition. The only downside was that back left, near the taillight was scraped pretty good, maybe I'll put up a picture when I decide to get off my lazy butt again :p

As for insurance, it only cost me about $1,500 to ensure it for a year ;)

  3. Probably about £1,000, which is normal for a car which is under 1.6L as a first car here... Pretty good ;)

As for the scrape, feel free to post a picture anytime, this thread will be here for when you decide to get up! :p

  4. Welp, there it is

    (No ticket this time )

  5. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it does need clearing up some time... :p

If you keep expecting tickets, shouldn't you just move the car? ;)

  6. The street sweep comes by every 1st and 4th tuesday every month at around 7 in the morning.

I can't move it because there's nowhere to put it, my driveway is filled up and my garage is filled with junk xD And there's no way I'm getting up at 6:30am to move my car just for the street sweep.

  7. How much is the ticket each time?

  8. Only $59
  9. So, over $100 a month? My recommendation: clean the garage and park there. It'll be worth it in the long run and will save you money... Right? :p

  10. We'd have to buy a storage unit to store everything in there xD

So technically we wouldn't me saving money :p
  11. Here's a good tip then; tell your parents to either get a storage unit to store all of the things, or if not, tell them that they have to pay for your tickets when you got them.

    Clever? Clever! ;)

  12. Well they're already paying for the tickets, so I'm good :p

  13. In that case... Park on the road to your heart's delight! ;)

  14. (ah, caught this thread again. This is one of those that I keep accidentally unfollowing)
So they give you a bill every time, two times a month, but they don't say anything else about it? Well, at least they'll have a steady income :p
What is a street sweeper, anyway?

  15. I think they usually just clean the rubbish and yucky stuff that gets clogged up at the side of the road - we have them here in England too but they're all lazy so you never see them about xD
