The minecraft combat update is just about the scariest update yet. Between hordes of skeletal steeds, enemies flying at you from above, and even beetroot soup (good luck living through that one—blech!), you’ll need all the training you can get to survive. Ready? Well, then, let’s go prepare for Minecraft 1.9: The Combat Update.
Deck the halls, trim the stockings, and sing this Christmas song!
In December 2013, a member of Empire Minecraft by the name of _Stads_ had the novel idea to create a Christmas song and have all of the Empire Minecraft staff provide the voices. The staff didn’t have the best vocals, but they tried their best. Multiple recordings were sent in and combined over the course of a month to create a pretty neat song parody, just in time for Christmas. While the vocal track to the Christmas song no longer exists, we wanted to spotlight the lyrics for our Christmas Eve blog post as a throwback special to 2013.
So grab the nearest hairbrush, remote control, or other microphone substitute and sing this Christmas song at the top of your lungs. If you have an ear for music, maybe you could even make your own video using this song, or maybe try making your own Empire Minecraft Christmas song parody. If you do, comment below so we can see it!

“Wait you’re a mom? That’s so weird!!”
“Yeah! Moms don’t play minecraft!!”
I cannot count the number of times that has been said to me. Guess what? Moms do in fact play minecraft. And I for one, enjoy it. In fact I make time in my day just to play it! After the chores are done, the kids have eaten, are napping and I have gotten something for myself to eat, I play minecraft. My life as a mom always comes first, but I love to relax by playing this game.
Hi everyone, it’s Autumn and I am coming to you on this spooky Halloween night to tell you a scary story.. Growing up in the early 90’s, I was privy to watch shows such as Are You Afraid of the Dark? on Nickelodeon’s Saturday night television block, Snick. The show was about a group of teenagers that called themselves The Midnight Society and they would meet on Saturday nights to sit around a campfire and one of them would tell a scary story. Well, Halloween can’t really be Halloween without a cheesy horror movie with an untied ending to leave the franchise open for millions of sequels and then a really bad remake 20 years later that does the original no justice what-so-ever.
So… Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society.. I call this story The Tale of Resik’s Tomb…
“…Come to me…”
An ancient and ethereal voice could be heard in every reaches of the Empire. The voice started as a whisper, faintly heard and nearly non-existent above the clamor of constructions in town, the sounds of mining in the frontiers and the clashes between Marlix and the unlucky souls to cross her path in the wastelands.
The voice, which started out softly, grew in intensity until it could be heard by everyone. No one could hide from that ancient voice. It could be heard from the very depths of the Nether to the far reaches of the End.
“She’s calls for us…” A dark, sultry voice spoke out softly from a dark figure atop of a large bat. “Hela, Down…” The bat listened and landed atop a tall ice spire. The dark figure stepped off of the bat and stood up straight. The sounds of bones crackling fill the dark, cold air.
The hood on the figure slipped away to show the dark voids of eye sockets that once contained beautiful blue eyes. All that was left now were the bones that held her body up many eons ago and the dark magicks that kept her bones together and bound. Speaking ancient words, she called forth Momentus from the dark mountains where he lurked.
The dusky sky darkened as something large arose from the horizon and blocked out the setting sun. A groaning moan pierced the crisp air. A giant, undead zombie shuffled forward leaving small craters in the ground with each step he made forward. The zombie stopped short in front of skeletal figure.
“Mar-llllllllliix… Massssster…” He groaned, staring blindly at the figure with rolling eyes.
“Momentus, my pet… Our master calls for us. Come.” The skeleton stepped back upon her mount and flew south slowly with Momentus groaning and shuffling behind.
There was little resistance between them and their destination as the duo made their way to the source of the ethereal voice. Armored warriors outfitted in the best diamond armor rupees could buy rose against them from out of the ruins of an ancient stronghold that housed their destination. The warriors were drawn there by the same ethereal voice that drew the duo. The voice was now a loud hiss.
The leader of this ragtag group of warriors charged forth to attack. However, Marlix was quicker. She notched an arrow onto her bow from the quiver on her back and let it fly. The arrow caught the leader in his neck and he fell. Momentus then proceeded to trample him underfoot. The rest of the warriors perturbed by the loss of their leader pushed forward but each fell as quickly to an onslaught of arrows.
The ethereal hiss started to descend into cackling cacophony as Momentus started punching though the ruins making the ancient buildings collapse and crumble to the ground. Marlix echoed the cacophony with her own sultry laughter as a dark crypt arose from the rumble. The blood of the fallen warriors started floating towards the crypt as if drawn there by some unseen force.
The ground rumbled violently as the blood touched the crypt and the long dead torches on the walls blazed alight.
“COME TO ME CHILDREN!!!” The voice echoed as the door creaked open.
Have a Happy Halloween!
