  2. Thank you for clarifying this to the community, there's been a lot of conflict about the prices of everything, and I very much appreciated your lecture on inflation and the purchasing of rupees. I completely agree with what you said, and I hope that if the players with to pay 150r for diamonds, then they will do so :D

  3. Where did it all start....

Once upon a time on a server not so far away items like a Silk Touch pickaxe with Unbreaking III and Efficiency IV would cost you upwards of 17k also GLowstone was 27 - 35r each and diamonds where selling for 21 - 27r each.

Then came the dark side, VILLAGER TRADES "den den den .. Dramatic Music" and all became lost in a world of the Notch. Villager farms in town spawned millions of villagers, all eager to trade their wares and ruin the economies of servers.
  4. Darn villagers lol.

  5. That's a good point - change in Minecraft due to things like Villager/Gold/Iron farms are having way more impact on the economy than a simple influx of rupees ever would.
  6. soon as IRL settles down, I intend to create an extremely simple interface to search an item and see the average price in the past week, and maybe list last 10 residences who have sold it.

This won't take much work, and will expose it over JSON files too, so then people like azoundria can consume this data and offer historical graphs in the short term, but we might add graphs later too.
  7. That's good.
My idea about the inflation comes from constant need to raise the buy-prices in order to get stuff sold to the shop. Perhaps people do not produce as much as before not because of high rupee balances, but because of some other reasons. I just constantly struggle to keep the shop in stock.

    Very true.
I'll try to compose a "basket of goods" and calculate the inflation.

Thank you very much for the stats. Could you add "COUNT(*)" or "SUM($qty)" to get the volume and perhaps extend the period to 20 days?

It would also be very interesting to see how the sum of balances of active players changes (active = at least 8 hours online time in last 2 months).

Please announce it in advance, because some players  try to optimize their mining activities and do have some stuff there :)

Thank you! This is good news! :)

    Question to all:
About diamonds, perhaps they were just under-priced before?
How long does it take you to find 4 diamond ore blocks (around 1000r)?
How long does it take you to mine / collect 15 stacks of sand (also around 1000r)?

It took me 20 min (3 min preparation and transport, 17 min mining) to get 27 stacks of sand and 20 stacks of sandstone (that's around 3500r), so 1000r in this comparison would correspond to 5.7 min mining time.
  8. On a good day, the average with traditional mine shafts, it takes me about 10-15 minutes to strike upon a diamond vein.

With my 'godly' shovels, the time to get 15 stacks of sand would be about...eh...4 minutes. If it's nighttime, then a little more time to kill the creepers... :D

  9. erm.. umm.. I don't like inflation. Sometimes I am poor, and I never go to the waste, so i usuallly buy things.
With inflation, there should be a raise on voting rewards. that is my opinion
  10. Now that is an amazing idea. Preach it, brother Aikar, preach it!

  11. I'd be more willing to say its your fame that gets you. When players find a reliable shop with fair prices, they tend to go there more often. Time = money, and chasing down in stock shops can sometimes outweigh the benefit of shopping around to find a lower price.

  14. I think the shop prices being updated are driving them back up, but because they were cheaper for a while the price plummeted
