  1. What I'm drawing similarities to Hitler are would be:

He wants to stop Muslim entering the country? How would you do that? By having them wear a star on their clothing like Jews were forced to during the holocaust.

He wants to spy on mosques. Why? Hitler was a Christian and killed millions of people. Maybe ALL christians should be deemed as murderers. Simply said, just because there are a few bad people, doesn't mean you take out a whole group.

  2. Ronald Reagan was a Democrat too remember? Reagan seems to be conservatives' idol these days.
  3. Yea, the whole lying about SAP level emails on her personal server, and then the ignoring security requests in Benghazi, cutting security after the requests were made, lying about a video to cover it up and then trying to silence the family members and witnesses thing might have taken a small toll on the American opinion of Hillary Clinton.

  4. "I didn't leave the Democratic Party, the Party left me." - Ronald Reagan
Reagan officially became a Republican in 1962, although he supported Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956, as well as Nixon in 1960.

There's a book called "Ronald Reagan's Journey: Democrat to Republican" written by Edward Yager I recommend you read if you want to learn more.

  5. I think Hitler was just a catholic growing up, and became more distant from it growing up. I guess you could say he made up his on religion after he brainwashed the Germans after disguising himself as a catholic.

Bush and Obama have kept the Patriot act alive, so whenever a red flag goes off, they spy on anyone they want. As of 2015 they have to go through a federal court before they can search, if you believe that. There are candidates out there both against and for that sort of spying. The only law I have heard that would have an attempt in getting repealed was the Affordable Healthcare act. Also, I really hope none of our candidates are for genocide.
  6. I could have swore in a debate he was asked what was his biggest mistake, and he replied being a democrat as a joke. Then again, it would have been a joke. Your quote seems to describe his feelings better about what he truly was. Thank you for the follow up :).

  7. I hope we're all learning a little something here :). Last few days before the big first primary! Any predictions from anyone? Who will claim the Iowa prize?
  8. I'm also glad we got a nice group together, for less than a day old thread, we got dems, republicans, and an ex-US EMC member posting.

And to reply to your post, I think we are totally brought up to think socialism is the first step lol. That word here is scary to some folks.

After a few years of awkwardness after 1787, we became best friends. I do like how UK corporate dividends are not taxed by UK's government for US holders and I think vice versa. That's about as far as I know about the UK-US special relationship, something I should read up on sometime.

  9. "Atheist websites routinely claim that Hitler was a Christian because he was born Catholic, he never publicly renounced his Catholicism, and he wrote in Mein Kampf, "By defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord."" -Catholic Education
  10. We can say he was born a catholic with great certainty, but as he grew older we think his view of God and his believes got twisted. Hitler had plans to destroy Christianity after he dominated the world so that may just say it all.

  11. "Hitler was a rationalist and a materialist who believed neither in God nor in conscience." - Alan Bullock

And just because Hitler didn't denounce his religion with words, he did with his actions. Hitler and the Nazis attacked both the Catholic Church and Protestant Church in Germany, Czech Lands, Slovakia, Poland and Austria.

  12. I guess we'll see if Trump's fundraiser helped or hurt him in Iowa Tuesday evening.
  13. Ok, so since he was atheist my point still stands, you don't just go calling all atheists murderers because a few bad people from a group did so

  14. I still laugh at the fact that they argued on the English Parliament Floor to actually ban Donald Trump from England.
  15. A lot of it is cultural, since the UK did own the Thirteen Colonies before the Revolutionary War, so that can't be dissolved. A lot of it is following eachother into wars (besides the Suez Crisis where the US made the UK lose 'superpower' status (it was losing it anyway though :p), the Vietnam War that the UK didn't send troops into *thank God*, and the Falklands War), which a lot of us here think needs to stop - including the current leader of the Labour Party (who is probably the most Socialist politician we have right now), who I'm hoping will be our next Prime Minister in 2020 and he's already broke election records, so I have high hopes :p

He's banned from Scotland, I think. Nicola Sturgeon doesn't like him at all :p
  16. The Crusades.

Some people (I include myself in this group, to some extent) think of the War on Terror as a second group of Crusades. Both of those series of wars have a lot in common.
