To be fair you have to be in town or protected area to use vault, I think this idea is like an enderchest with smaller holding space but the qualities of a labor bench (non placeable and infinite uses).
enderchests are waste accessible. they have more slots, too. just need a silktouch pick which you ought to bring while mining, anyway >.>
