Idea: Block togglepreview from being able to preview blocked chest Basically, this already applies for restrict signs, but it should also apply for chest or containers which are not able to be opened because a block is on top of them. (This refers to /togglepreview which lets you see the content of chest) Contructive criticism and Feedback is appreciated
What I'm suggesting is to prevent people being able to preview situations like this: Where a block is on top of a container
I am not opposed to this suggestion. Curious what the community members think about it. There are several implications either way to this suggestion.
Although I don't agree that allowing this would 'Ruin EMC', as stated in the voting options. I voted NO because this circumvents part of the economy by which I mean the making and spending of rupees. You make rupees and if you want to prevent previewing of your chests you then spend rupees to lock it. You don't get your bread for free at the store do you? In general I don't agree with the basic premise of players placing blocks on top of chests anyway. -1 -BZ-
If my suggestion is implemented or not, people will still be able to use /bmode to protect chest instead of lock signs. It isn't cirumvating the economy... source And, although this will affect the wild, I see more use in town where restrict signs are free.
In less I'm lost on the command, I thought /togglepreview only worked in town. If you don't want people to see whats in it disable togglepreview.. Then place a preview sign on the chest you want people to look into.
-1 It would remove some building options: I always found it kind of usefull you are able to look into a chest that is technically locked. It really is a usefull building mechanic for complicated redstone, I was actually planning to use it in a farm, so you can look if something is filled up without having to have that extra epty space on top of the chest.
It pains me.. sorta.. (please read my full response (esp. goes to you Tuq!)). -1 The suggestion is a good one. The thing is: sub zones. Please note: when I respond to suggestions I do so in a weird way (according to some players): I do not only look at what's best for US (us players), but I also look at what's best for THEM (in this case EMC). It may sound crazy but seriously: our gameplay comes from EMC. Without EMC we would have whatever you would create in a single player world. What is good for EMC is eventually good for us. What is good for us doesn't have to be good for EMC. Yes, I honestly take this stuff seriously. SO my problem is subzones. Create a subzone around the area, set perms, done. No one will be the wiser. And weighing the options (I know it may sound stupid, that's the part where I don't care) I think it already works as is. As such I have to go with my score above.
I really like this idea as it would mean we could turn on and off preview with redstone so I could put a preview sign or set the flag (on my res) then have a comparator or some other redstone circuit to control a sticky piston to move a block back and forth over the chest Not in my opinion game breaking, It may not be all that useful but could be nice to have it around as we don't have any restone automation for stuff like flag commands. the time to implement may be better spent on other things though... but i like this idea
Maybe it would affect only non-admin players on the res. So you can still work on redstone, while outsiders don't see your secrets =P I was talking about placing a bmoded block on top chest =P anyways bump
