Exactly my point. We have a meeting every week and yet, you still don't log in The biggest problem is that we decide to have a meeting a few hours beforehand. So we need to make clear when it will happen, multiple days out. The problem right now is that we really haven't got enough active members to fill even all of these positions. So we really need go get more members The idea is that each district can act as its own independent outpost, advertising separately (although hopefully directing players to this thread) and planning and building separately. But also as part of the LLO. The representative of a district acts as a "leader" of sort without having supreme control. It's still conforming to the overriding idea that the LLO is a free place to come and do as you wish. But yeah, what you said about talking to people in districts, we need to start talking. As for voicing them to the council, I'm thinking that maybe our meetings that we have now could become sort of council meetings, where the council is there to discuss things with the entire community.
…It's been a busy last few months. I'll be able to actually start playing again come next year when college applications and whatnot are out of the way. Yeah, and put people into these districts. Most of these districts have one member in them. Think anyone would object to LLO taking over the forums with however many threads we'd need for each district? That'd cause some discussion about this place though. The representative shouldn't be like a leader in any way. They are merely communicators and active participants in their district. There is no power they will wield. So…yeah, once I get some time, I'll write up some "ad" books so we can throw those at people in town like how PoC did when they were starting up.
So it would seem a lot has happened around my little district while ive been away, and the areas i was planning to expand to are a bit occupied. I was thinking about expanding up and to the left a bit, anyone opposed? EDIT: I plan to stay in the swamp biome, one of my main attractions are all the slimes walking down the streets. Hey guys, there's been a bit of discussion regarding how to make the LLO more active recently. We though it's about time we got the whole community involved in these discussions. Our main proposal is to get some sort of economy working the LLO. Most people on EMC these days are mainly interested in town and so we thought that some sort of money making opportunity would spur peoples interest in the LLO, hopefully then they'll stay on beyond the economy. Obviously stores won't be very effective, however services could be very useful. People could operate business to build houses or farm, while others could sell land or ready built houses. To advertise this, we would create a new thread to get people interested, which would then redirect to this thread. There will be some technicalities that would have to be addressed if we did start dealing with an economy in the LLO. We've addressed a few of these. Our current derelict policy likely wouldn't work if people were to purchase land, having spent rupees on it, someone would probably want more protection. The owner of a plot of land would be required to clearly signpost it, stating their ownership. If that owner is regarding as derelict by the EMC system (viewable in /p) then we would regard the plot as derelict. However, the land would not be resumed unless it becomes unmaintained and starts spawning mobs, or alternatively, the space is required for something else. Management of derelict properties would be the responsibility of the representative of a district. Another idea we had was to host events every few weeks. We have a large stadium and lots of land around it that could be used for event venues. If anyone has any ideas for events that could be help here, that would be great! Also, to go with the idea of events, we thought we should also try to push the LLO as a "holiday" destination. People could take a break from town and relax or take part in events. Our final idea was to make the LLO more accessible. We've always prided ourselves on being an open community, but to outsiders, that's not so obvious. They need to post in the thread and then someone will send them a PM with directions. We thought that it would be good to have directions to the LLO edited into the first post. This has the potential to bring griefers, but we don't think that's a major problem. We're already very obvious on the map so we just want to give people easy to understand, specific directions. Just some ideas, feedback would be appreciated before we go ahead with any of this
