Another North Carolina resident here. It is indeed a horrible place. So horrible, in fact, that we are presently ranked #3 country for inbound migration.

Despite the fact that the theme from Deliverance starts playing as soon as you cross the state line and we only recently discovered the benefits of electricity and indoor plumbing people keep moving here in huge numbers, doubling the state's population in just the last 40 years.

So whatever you do, don't come to North Carolina like the other millions of people who already have. And don't even think about setting up any multibillion dollar, highly ranked companies. We're all just a bunch of dumb, backwards hicks here.
