I'm not sure if this point has got across yet, but I watch the program (we don't call it a show in England ) and it gets on my nerves too Although, I sometimes do let people off with calling a police box a TARDIS. Doctor who first aired in 1963, where in almost every corner there was a police box. The doctor's TARDIS's chameleon circuit broke when it landed in 1963, so it became a police box. Then, in 1969, most police boxes were demolished, and about 20 years later almost nobody knew what a police box was - they just recognised them as a TARDIS... so they call them a TARDIS, when, as a matter of fact, they are police boxes.
