  3. I'm actually still very confused with what we're supposed to be doing here.
  4. Submitted, I outlined Hitler's rise too power and how he did it, as well as the effects of the great depression on the Weimar Republic. No copy and pasting, though I did reward a lot of statements I read, only pasting words I couldn't be bothered to spell out.
  5. Not the question
  6. I personaly thought i answered the question, i stated the things that showed the Weimar was weak and could not control its own country and summed it up by saying they basically they were weak and it drove the people of Germany to extremism such as the Nazi party.

forgive me if i am wrong :)
  7. It was set up after ww1 but before ww2,
they failed, in my opinion, because:
The Germans didn't feels they were truly beaten in the war, this increased nationalism.
war reparations were tough for them to afford, they needed to pay their alliances money, coal ect....
The great depression caused financial difficulties which compounded the burden on the German economy.
All this ended socialism, which effectively led to a civil war and the end of the Weimar Republic.

This is something along the lines that I would write if I were you,
    I hope this helped :D
  8. Bless my history teacher... One of the few classes I didn't slept on... Anyways I hope it helps.

"Weimar Republic" the German state emerged at the end of World War I, which lasts throughout the 1920s, ending in 1933 with the installation of the "Nazi Germany". In fact, the official name of the German state since its founding in 1871 until 1933 is "Deutsches Reich", something like "German kingdom" in English. Interesting to note that, from 1919 until today, Germany, in its various forms, has always existed as a republic (whether called Weimar Republic, Germany under the Nazis, the two Germanys during the Cold War or the current unified state).

The term "Weimar Republic" is born from the fact that the Constitution of the nascent German republic was celebrated in the city of Weimar in Thuringia, on 11 August 1919. Instead the Kaiser Wilhelm II, who resigned after the military defeat, rises to power Friedrich Ebert, the Social Democratic Party, whose first major task to prevent that Germany will not fragment amid several local uprisings. That new country, there among the people feelings of outrage, dismay, despair and disillusionment caused by unreasonable compensation demands made by the victorious countries in the war and the subsequent economic crisis, social and political caused by such setbacks. The country will lose all their overseas empire in Africa, Asia and Oceania, parts of its own territory and will be unable to rebuild its military. Also, we have taken important economic resources, such as the mines of the Ruhr region and will be forced to pay debts of an absurd amount, which for this reason remain without being settled. To make matters worse, an unprecedented economic crisis explodes into mid-20s, resulting in a hyperinflation scenario. A simple margarine tub can cost millions of marks, and the paper money will serve as fuel to heat homes in winter, or as material for making kites for children.

Gradually, the economic powers realize the void caused in the world economy due to the policy of maintaining a weak Germany. Similarly, it is viewed with suspicion the gradual rapprochement between Germany and the Soviet Union two "rogue states" seeking cooperation. The realization of this scenario makes the penalties to Germany are softened, allowing this some recovery. Already in this period, the second president of the period takes office, the war veteran Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, respected by the entire German political class.

The Weimar Republic come to an end due to the radicalization of the German political scene, which pressed a regime based on the balance of the different ideological forces. Despite the social and economic problems, the period in Germany was also of intense artistic creation, film, visual arts, theater and music, highlighting names like Murnau, Fritz Lang, Bertolt Brecht, George Grosz, among others.

  9. Did you outline the reasons for why the Weimar Government failed to deal with these problems? If so, you answered it correctly

I should add, that I don't know the answer. So if it turns out the question is just ridiculous, I will award the best answer with "reasons" aside
  10. Which poster?
  11. For context, the syllabus:
"Democratic changes under the Weimar Government and reasons for its failure to deal with social, political and economic problems"
  12. I included the following:
    • Treaty of Versailles and it's impacts
    • German reparations Burden
    • Weimar Constitution and it's failure
    • Impacts of the Great Depression on the Weimar Republic
    • Rising Support for Hitler
    • Weimar Republic's Failure
  13. Put an example answer in the OP which I think is correct

Erektus probably has the most correct answer from what I can see in all the responses because it, for the most part, identifies why problems weren't dealt with

As before, if you think your answer is also correct, let me know
  14. Ah shoot, I touched upon the governmental reason, but it seems I was off target :p
  15. I think I might change it up a bit and instead set a deadline - all those against? If I do, anyone who submit prior is free to resubmit
  16. Against.
  17. against, let others have a turn :p
  18. Alex, what do you think of my answer??:D
