Microsoft challenge: Build a collaborative AI in Minecraft

  1. Hi gang,

I just read my favorite online IT magazine (one of them anyway) called TheRegister and it had a very interesting article about Minecraft.

As it turns out Microsoft has been busy with Project Malmo for quite some time now (founded June 2015); this is a project which researches AI (to keep it short and simple). And right now Microsoft uses this platform as a challenges for people with a PhD to actually create an AI within a Minecraft environment.

But not just any AI. This AI will actually need to have the ability to interact with real players, chosen randomly at Microsoft's discretion. So basically it has to have the ability to determine what players are up to and adapt to all that.

You can read more about this on the Microsoft blog here:

    As well as here:

Who was it again who said that Minecraft is a simple game which is only good for building pixelated structures using virtual blocks? ;)
