Hi, it's me again! I recently had to get a new laptop, and it's got Windows 11 as its operating system. Now, I haven't been able to install Minecraft on it. The new launcher does the following: And I couldn't install the old launcher; it worked for a bit when I used it from Windows Explorer, but now it doesn't anymore. Has anyone else had this happen, and/or does anyone know a solution?
I don't recommend the launcher from the Microsoft Store. I recommend the old launcher, obtainable from the Minecraft website - https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download
What chicken said. Alternatively, try MuliMC It's a really good launcher if you want to support having multiple accounts and several mods, that does not also support Microsoft accounts. It might be overkill for your purposes, though.
Interesting to know that many people here use a 3rd party client! After chickeneer's post, I downloaded MinecraftInstaller.msi 'DOWNLOAD FOR WINDOWS 7/8'. I'm pretty sure this was what I tried before, but it works now. Good. I am confused that the option that is apparently for 'Windows 10/11' seems to use the Microsoft Store, though. This is Java Edition, not Bedrock.
