  2. We call the majority parties of the United States "Republicans and Democrats," I would propose that we change the names to "Republican'ts and Democraps."
The American political system has become groups of power-seeking individuals with the means to fund a campaign, throwing lies and slander at each other until one candidates lies and slander are believed by the majority of the population. This isn't right. Both parties in my mind are equally bad, in that they have no vision for America, only a vision for their pay-check.
Hilary Clinton, is a woman who has committed legal malpractice (during the Nixon investigations), as well as what I would consider treason, by denying requests for extra security during a coordinated attack on United States Federal territory at the American Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.
Donald Trump is an egotistical maniac who wants the office primarily for bragging rights.
Bernie Sanders has a desire to turn the United States into a Socialist "Utopia," even if his intentions are good he lacks the ability to understand, POWER ALWAYS CORRUPTS, and that his idealist socialist system puts more and more power into the hands of the federal government. Socialism may very well benefit the majority of people in America, but only temporarily, because when the government does overstep the boundaries of the constitution, a socialist system is the perfect system to expand that power until it cannot be halted. Especially after the increasing firearm regulation in this country that makes it impossible for the people to fight back.
I see many of the above posts seem to look at socialism as a fair and equal system, to any that do I recommend reading the book Animal Farm, by George Orwell (Eric Blair),"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
I wish that there was a candidate that truly believed in the American dream, The dream that any man or woman, regardless of race, religion, or creed, could find success, and be at peace through belief in Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness. Sadly it's been a long time since we had one.

  3. Aren't they all owned by Rupert Murdoch? Or is that just Fox News? He owns a bunch of newspapers over here, and gets paid millions by our Conservative Party to spread propaganda like this:

He also got paid by the Police in the 1980s to cover up the Hillsborough Disaster. He's currently getting paid to rip into Jeremy Corbyn (pretty early on in his Labour leadership tenure, which means the Tories are pretty scared :p) from The Sun to... basically all of Britain's news sources besides the BBC, which is owned by the government itself and doesn't spread propaganda 0.e
  4. if donald trump wins im moving out of the country. nope nuh uh goood bye
  5. He'd certainly stop immigration into the US. He'd probably also stop immigration out of the US too because everyone would have left.
  6. Speaking honestly:
-The fact that he's not politically correct is a plus in my book. He's not a career politician, and I do like that.
-UNFORTUNATELY, he's also an unscrupulous corporate asshat, and I have no more love for the Corporate Overlords of America than I do for the Political ones (who are by and large beholden to the former anyway).

I've gotten more depressed with each election since the time I was old enough to pay attention to them. We need a Lincoln for our era so desperately, but I don't expect it'll happen until our supply of dead dinosaur runs out and Big Oil loses some of its death-grip on our country. We'll still have the banking and media/entertainment industries to strangle us, but I'll take what little I can get at this point.

  7. While I don't agree with people when they say we're going to run out of oil in the next few decades, it certainly isn't going to last thousands of years. There will be a point at which we will need to find another useful source of energy. Why not do it now instead of wait until mass executions are the only answer.

And environmentalists make some good points when they try to stop drilling or fracking. Why drill and cause pollution when there are many other, perfectly good options (nuclear power for example).

  8. I'm not personally a fan of Trump. While he is one of the funniest guys I've listened to in a while, I think our country definitely needs someone passionate and serious about being President of the United States. At this point, I'd vote for Marco Rubio. He seems to have the passion and the knowledge that Trump lacks. Of course, a lot can change in 2 months.
    1. Dead Dinosaur is a non-renewable resource. No matter when we run out, the fact remains that it's going to happen. Staying tethered to something with a finite expiration date is foolish and short-sighted.
    2. As a Pennsylvania resident, let me assure you there are very good reasons for environmental controls to limit drilling on the shale deposits. Groundwater contamination, noise and fracking waste pollution, vehicle traffic, and property damage, just to name a few. It's been a hot topic in this area for a while now, and although I'll admit there are some benefits to tapping the deposits, IMO they do not outweigh the consequences. Besides which, see Point #1.
You can bash on environmentalists all you want, but trust me - when it's your backyard some faceless corporation wants to rip up for their pipeline, it'll change your perspective in a hurry.
  9. Electric cars are just as reliable if not more reliable than petrol cars. Yes, you can't travel as far, but in 5, maybe 8 years, they'll be rivalling even the longest range petrol cars.

Also, take the Tesla Model S. It has a range of over 500km, you aren't going to drive more than 400km in a single go without a break. If you stop for a 30 minute break to eat something and there's a supercharger there, you're good to go for another 400km+ until you need a break again. Once the infrastructure of destination and road trip chargers and things are built up, electric cars won't need any more range than they have now.

  10. Well, if I had just been driving for four hours, I'm not sure 5-10 minutes will cut it for a break to be honest.

You can't just simply clean up ground water contamination, it can spread a huge distance very fast. Plus, what about the hundred if not thousands of animals and plants which will likely be killed or become very sick. It's not a good look and it could have some seriously detrimental effects on further ecosystems. I don't like being this person who goes on about animals and stuff but you can't just completely disregard the potential effects.

Also, whether the oil comes from plants or dinosaurs makes no difference. It still takes millions of years to be turned into oil or whatever.

    • Prehistoric Dead Plant is just as non-renewable as Prehistoric Dead Lizard, Prehistoric Dead Bird, and Prehistoric Dead Anything-Else. I am honestly shocked that I need to have to spell that out for you. No matter what died and got buried in the Earth's crust, the point is WE CAN'T PUT IT BACK. IT. WILL. RUN. OUT.
    • This is obviously not a complete map of shale deposits, but I think it illustrates quite plainly what kind of an area we're talking about. You can't go drilling for this stuff and not affect people.

Much of this region is small towns, or single-family homes, spread out by a few miles. No matter where you think you want to go drilling, it's going to affect someone. Generally a few dozen someones, in any given area. You might think "oh well, that's a small price to pay," until that someone who can't drink their well-water turns out to be you. But I guess you don't have to deal with the problem personally because you don't live here. Ergo you don't care, right?
    • You are not going to get "a trillion barrels of oil" without massively disrupting tens of thousands of people's homes, lives, and land, over a very large swath of the region. And, in case I need to keep hammering it home, once this stuff is gone, IT. IS. GONE. All that's left behind is the fracking waste, contamination, and so forth, that the residents get to deal with.
There was a drill about two or three miles from my house. It ran for maybe a month, and then they dismantled it. Now please, let's go back to the politics, before this discussion really gets ugly.

EDIT: Semantic correction, the Marcellus shale is a source of natural gas, not shale-oil. My points about non-renewable resources, pollution / waste, and the disruption of people's homes and lives all remain however.

  11. He was running, but then he turned out to be a 15 year old teenager. He backed Bernie Sanders for the Democrat nomination and another I guy I don't remember the name of for the Republican nomination.
