From Sea level to Bedrock, I started this base about eight years ago, what began on a mushroom island soon developed to an undersea base next to the island. As I explored the area, my first discovery was a zombie spawner, soon after I found a group of three spider spawners close enough to each other to make a farm with all spawners in range. Over time I discovered more spawners, both spider and skelly spawners and several slime chuncks right next to each other. The slime chuncks where under the ocean and so began a dig out for a basic slime farm. Over time this expanded with the centre of the base beging a skelly spawner. Around 4-5 years ago I decided to dig out sea level to bedrock and area of 128 x 128. After achieving this I decided to expand this to 256 x 256, Clearly this was and still remains an enormus undertaking. However, after removing the ocean I eventually cleared out the area close to half way with some sections cleared all the way to bedrock. I have not been digging this out constantly, hence, the time period 4 - 5 years so far. 1.18 Caves & Cliffs update brought excitment to many, however, the downside was the new dept of deepslate blocks, and more caves that all need spawn proofing. Huge reduction in efficience of mob farms has now pushed me to begin digging out the central area all the way to bedrock. That's a good question! I'm not Silken, but I'll still answer just to see whether he gets any ideas. I usually listen to music when I'm playing games other than Minecraft. I'm often afraid of not hearing monsters if I do that in Minecraft, but even so, I'll often at least do it if I'm in creative mode, in a relatively safe place or doing something as mundane as digging a lot. I enjoy the underwater and nether music WAY more than the normal overworld music, but I have my own to drown it out if needed.
As the area is mob proofed I some times will listen to music or have a youtube "Hermitcraft" video on, the down side of watching minecraft videos while mining away myself is hearing a creeper and zombie noises; which freeks me out, as a mob may have somehow spawned in. I can also get freeked out if I here a chest open when I am distracted and forget I have an mc vid playing .
