Domestic flights in Australia are the best in the world. (Professional opinion, not just mine ) The flights can be pretty cheap, especially to holiday destinations, but be prepared to be be flexible about flight times, because there isn't a big enough population for lots of flights a day.
You can try http://www.webjet.com.au/ to find cheap flights with all domestic companies. I usually check pricing then go on the carriers website to buy tickets.
