Well, I'm teh oddball too. I'm autistic, there are two people who don't like that, but those are the your mum kind, so I don't really mind. All the other kids do really like me though, and some do really try and look after me because they know I need more assistance sometimes. So I think it is more about the people around you than about you. I just got really lucky with the people around me, maybe you got more of the your mum kind around you.
Just be nice and friendly, people rarely want to make fun of you unless you're a bad person or really mean. They're just joking most of the time, although it's true that you may not get close to certain guys. Talking to people is the best way to make friends.
So everyone out there who keeps saying that bullying never happens or its only joking around or it only happens if you deserve it ( if you are mean or a bad person), please realize that just because you think its no big deal or have never been bullied, that is not everyone's experience. Sometimes people who have less power (or perceived to have less power) get bullied by those with more power thru no fault of the less powerful. There are some really nasty people out there who are really mean. Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it has never happened to someone else. When you deny what someone else is experiencing or has experienced, it makes it that much worse for the person going thru it. When someone says they have been bullied, I believe them. Please don't belittle their experiences by saying bullying is not real or it is only a joke so their feelings about the jokes don't matter. Yes life is tough and we have to just shake off the bad stuff sometimes, but that doesn't mean that bad stuff doesn't happen.
