You seem to lose your work quite often, why don't you save your work more while you're working on it? When I am writing any code, I save my work every few minutes to ensure I don't lose any of it. It sounds like you need to start a routine of saving your work while you're working on it so that when something like this happens, you only lose a few minutes of work, not the entire thing.
