APC and CyberPower are both great companies. I own a few CyberPower UPS battery backups, all of which work great. Go for Pure Sine Wave UPS battery backups, because those will provide the cleanest AC power to your computer and electronics.

You "can" buy the cheaper "modified/simulated" sine wave models, but... I cannot guarantee the longevity of your electronics, since they add extra stress to the bridge rectifiers in your devices when the voltage suddenly changes from one state to another, instantaneously. Best to stick with pure sine wave, since that's what comes from the wall outlet!

For your computer, Pure Sine Wave is a must, since some computer power supplies will physically reject anything but a pure sine wave, since they have advanced circuitry that is designed to keep them from accidentally accepting "dirty power". Some smaller electronics with an AC/DC power brick "might" be okay, like your laptop charger, router plug, or such, but that is up to you if you want to get those.

VA ≠ Watts. They are something totally different. Check the actual wattage, and depending on your need, get as many watts as you can, because you NEVER want to have a capacity that matches your load. That will stress out the UPS to no end. (I have a 1,000 watt UPS for my average 125 watt load computer, which can last me about 75 minutes with no electricity)

Thank you for your help! I was looking at some APC models, but I don't know what I need to go with yet. I do know my PC falls between 600–700-watt range.

Combined max wattage yeah? Average wattage of my computer under normal usage (not gaming or anything) is about 100 watts. Though the combined maximum wattage of all my components is about 500-ish. Maybe more like 6, if I factor in my monitors and my graphics tablets, but under normal use, I pull about 100 watts from it.

Just want to emphasize is that the purpose of a UPS is to give the user time to shut their computer down, not push their computer to their limits when running on battery. You wouldn't get into an intensive gaming match while on battery, otherwise you'll stress your UPS out and it'll drain in like 4 minutes XD

Oh, I see what you mean! lol I was thinking totally different there. My fault. I wasn't thinking about draw under normal load over max load haha. Whoops!

No worries! I'm glad I was able to help clear that up, because it's quite important, especially if you want your batteries to last instead of wearing out after a single use! XD
