    The lead singers for 4 of the 5 I mentioned are deceased. That alone makes me feel old. I lived in the Seattle area in the early 1990s when they were at their peak. All the artistic energy coming out of the region at that time was quite something to behold.

    Most of what Pearl Jam put out isn't rough and sludgy enough to be considered grunge in my book with some notable exceptions like "Even Flow" and "Alive". They are from Seattle though and had a huge influence on the music scene. That gets them in my top-5.
