I was saying that I disagree, because 'status' is a loan word from Latin whereas 'cactus' is not. However, according to Wiktionary, 'cactus' _does_ come from (or, rather, via) Latin.
Even so: the apparent 'cactus' follows the second declension, whereas 'status' as a noun follows the fourth declension. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Latin_fourth_declension Thus, while you could argue for 'cacti' as a plural to 'cactus', it seems untenable to argue 'stati' as a plural to 'status'.
