@Potato: but why base the scale off water? The Fahrenheit scale is, as far as I know, supposed to be based on the highest and the lowest temperatures that are encountered in the USA. Problem being that it is actually frequently above 100 degrees. :P (does it get below 0 too?)
How do you mean, "So yes"? I wouldn't be surprised if it did not. I don't recall it ever getting that cold in the Netherlands (although I looked up the coldest temperature measured in the Netherlands ever and it was slightly below).
The definition is fairly arbitrary of course, but there is a big difference between 5+ hot days and 1 hot day!
Because because it was cool yesterday, you will have been able to cool down your rooms. As such it will be a lot cooler inside today than it would be if it was the same temperature last week.
In my room that tends to not really work, for some unknown reason. :P And when you are outside all day, like today, it having been colder doesn't particularly help. :P Where I was yesterday it also was 28+ degrees C, with burning sun. :P
