Ah, so it is because of the regulations related to COPPA? I think that if you don't have a big channel with content clearly targeted at kids, you needn't worry. But I might be mistaken. :|
Unfortunately that's not how this particular American law works... It sucks, which is why Youtube is nothing more than another major American corporation. Money before the people... -_-
If it's truly about "the people", then why didn't Youtube enforce COPPA back in 2007 when advertisements and ad revenue wasn't a thing? In America, every major corporation only cares about money. Youtube is no different, especially since Google owns them... :\
That's out of their control, as the FTC has already fined them over $170 million. They're doing this so they aren't fined more. I'm sure if Youtube didn't have to, they wouldn't enforce this. Shame to see how Youtube has devolved over time... :\
It is, AND it isn't. Being the website that hosts media, they need some system to manage the media better than relying on awful algorithms to do the work FOR THEM... Then the other half is bad parenting. Parents need to stop complaining about the content their kids are viewing when they give them their mobile device(s) to "keep them entertained"... Both of which are ruining everything for everyone...
