Though I'm not sure what specifically you're referring to, I do know a general issue in politics (and basically anything, actually): personal gains. So, so much is done just to benefit yourself or those near you.

Would be great if that would improve, but alas, humans are humans, and I think that this wish for self-gain is hardwired into humans, and getting power as well makes it different to resist exploiting said power for said personal gains.

Because the Kaiser was a rich guy who taxed the crap out of poor farmers to pay for a war against some 'uncivilised' Asian country that he lost. Any industry Russia had was owned by businessmen who ignored laws and underground socialist newspapers increased the public consciousness to become aware of how unjust that was.

At that point it just seemed like anything else would be better, especially now that the Kaiser was losing ANOTHER war. When Russia got another government they were incompetent too and appeared to be more of the same. Then in comes Lenin, an exiled outsider who promised radical change.

The socialists, liberals, conservatives however were all against him though and that's what caused the Russian Civil War. So I guess you could say there was a significant enough amount of people who knew nothing good would come out of communism/state capitalism, especially in an agricultural and not industrial nation, that they cut Russia in half.

I'm talking about Tsar Nicholas II, not a German Kaiser. And yeah, the Russo-Japanese war was a big fail, Russia should have just listened to Japan's deal or at least just kept Port Arthur instead of expanding control.

Whoops, I meant Tsar. Same root word and meaning so I got confused.
