This would probably be the best time to lose it, as I did a back-up at the end of December. Still, I would lose a personal project, have to redo my programming assignment, have a lot of hassle for some time, and lose around €100.
I'm glad you found it. I lost a pin drive once and lost all my book manuscripts and Minecraft skins. I found it about 2 months later in my pocket of one of my pants lol
I have 2TB, but I think I have at most 50GB of files I want to keep. The extra space is nice for recording video footage (there isn't enough room on the C drive to record 2 hours of footage, which I have done before) and keeping rendered videos before uploading them, but I think I should have bought 1TB instead of 2TB.
Reason I asked is because SD cards have become much bigger and cheaper nowadays. My USB stick is now a 128GB SD card in a converter. It's pretty fast, and tiny. It works really well. :D
There are even 256GB SD cards (at an okay price relative to the rest), and 400 and 512GB cards, but the latter two are quite a bit more expensive. I bought my SD cards (I've bought quite many :P) all from AliExpress, from multiple sellers. All work really well and do actually deliver their capacity as they should. :)
Ah, that's an interesting idea!
But while I know I could leave it inside my SD card adapter most of the time, it does seem scary: when you dó lose it, the chances of finding back a micro SD card seem a lot lower than finding back an SSHD...
That is true. I think it's a matter of how good you are at (not) losing things and in what way you would lose them. Could also paint it a bright yellow and purple, to make it represent Piwi and make losing more difficult and finding easier. :P I always keep my adapter in a special pouch in my bag that's closed off with a zipper.
You could try to find a similar place on your bag or so you (practically, or in similar situations) only use for the SD card and that you can leave open/exposed/noticeable when you've taken it out, so it's easier to notice that something is wrong. :)
Let me know if you'd like links to credible products. :) The adapter I use is very fast (under ideal conditions it can reach up to 90 MB/s!) and the SD cards work well too. The shipping time was quite good for AliExpress. :)
