The Representation of the People Act 1918, proposed by the last Liberal Party government to ever be elected in the UK, was passed in parliament by 385-55 on the 19th June, 1917. It received Royal Assent on the 6th February, 1918. It expanded the electorate to include almost 7 million more men, and created a female electorate of almost 9 million.

The first general election this suffrage was made use of for was held on December 14th, 1918. It returned the Liberal-Conservative coalition to parliament, although the Liberal Party was severely damaged, even splitting into two, and this government was the last ever Liberal government ever elected. It saw significant gains made by the Labour Party, who would eventually replace the Liberals as the opposition party.

It's interesting to realise how such an anti-genderism rule has only existed for just 100 years...

Yep. And even weirder that it was only legalised for ALL women and made equal with men (women had to be in their 40s and be rich to vote, whereas ALL men aged 21 and over could vote) in 1928, so less than 100 really.

It still baffles me how so many men could have the balls to say that they are so much better than their wives and other females. I've come to realise that so far, society has probably always been weird, its weirdness just changes along with time. :P

I guess when they're told that by society and raised to believe it they put up with it. I think it was only with the rise in widespread education they realised "wait hang on lol".

Probably that yeah. I wouldn't do anything like that nowadays, but maybe if I had been brought up that way I would have... Society's influence can be insane.
