What do you think about tattoos in general?

  1. I will have you know, I use temporary tattoos, and I ROCK them.

I don't have a problem with tattoos on other people, so long as they are appropriate, but I personally will NEVER get one, for a couple of reasons:
    1. I don't have the look. I just believe that I would look awful with a tattoo
    2. I can deal with medical needles, even the big needles for donating blood, but everything else scares the heck out of me. I don't know why, I just can't stand them.
    3. I can't decide on a piece of art that would be permanently attached to my body.
    4. I just don't think they are that cool. I'm sorry, I just don't understand the hype.
But, I also think that if tattoos are done, should be tastefully and conservatively done. So don't tattoo your eyeballs, just get something meaningful and call it quits.
  2. It's like anything. Right now they are cool. In a few years they will be out of fashion. When your kids grow up they will wonder how the heck you could have done that.

  3. Tattoos have been around for thousands of years. I don't think they're "going out of fashion." My grandpa, who was in his 80s when he died, had a tattoo. My co-worker who is around 50 has a tattoo. Another co-worker that's 32 has a tattoo. I'm 26 and I have a tattoo. My 19 year old sister has a tattoo. While certain styles of tattoos go through "trends" I don't think the actual art of tattooing will ever be gone.

  4. No, that's not what I mean. Tattoos have become popular in the general population within the last probably 15 years. Previously, there were much fewer people with tattoos. When I was in college no one had tattoos. It was not considered cool. You are correct that people have had tattoos for hundreds of years and they will never go away. But trends within general society do change. Look at clothing, hair style, etc... Tattoos will fall out of fashion at some point. Nothing stays in fashion forever as you will learn as you get older.

  5. I love tattoos. I currently have three. One of which I will be adding to in the near future. I also plan on getting more eventually. However I am saving up as with two kids they come first and I don't want a sloppy tattoo just because it was cheap. I think that a lot of people really rock their art, no matter how little or how much they have. However I have seen some really atrocious tattoos. But if the person wearing it likes it, who am I to say? Something might not be my style but that doesn't mean it's a bad tattoo. :) Just if you get anything with words please please please please make sure it is spelled correctly before being inked on you. There's nothing worse than a "NO REGERTS" tattoo :p

  6. I have two tattoos. I love one of them, I hate the other. The reason? As for the one I love, I took my time and really thought about what I wanted. I also got it from an experienced artist (who happened to be a reallu good friend of the family as well ^_^) The other one I also got from someone close to me, but she was less experienced, and I didn't put as much thought into it as I should have. So my recommendation to anyone who wants a tattoo is to really think about it first and make sure it's something that you're going to love. It WILL be on your body forever!
  7. I have a couple of tattoos too and my stand on them is that they're alright as long as they don't get too big or ridiculous. Please give a careful thought about what you want to embed on your skin though as it will be permanent and you don't wanna end up regretting it. Try getting them at places where you can easily hide them though, so getting a proper job would be easier.

  8. My two cents on the matter:
If it makes you happy, then whatever anyone else says doesn't matter.

I personally would LOVE to get a Blue Rose or a Blue Star tattoo on the inside of my left wrist. Don't ask me why, but I've had a fascination with blue roses and blue stars for as long as I can remember. However, the fact that I kinda faint from pain/needles and the fact I know that location is extremely dangerous to get anything done at (especially with my veins), I likely won't ever actually do it. I recently entertained the idea of one on my ankle instead, but we'll see =P

Fun fact: I once had a semi-permanent heart tattoo on the palm of my right hand. I accidentally got silver nitrate on my hand in my college Organic Chemistry class and it stained it for a good 4+ weeks. Of course I didn't realize it at the time and flipped out because it wouldn't wash off, but in hindsight it was pretty neat...

I had a friend in college that had a GIANT tattoo that covered his whole back. It said Live, Laugh, Love (or something similar) and thanks to the artistic style, it was designed to say the same thing upside down. He would do handstands all the time to show people.

  9. I like the tattoo that you can read upside down idea.

New, maybe, future tattoo, sort off.
