  1. I'm sure that fact that they now have a way to earn money from Realms servers had nothing to do with this newly found zeal to protect minecraft players from the evils of "pay-to-win" servers. ;)

  2. Considering Realms servers would likely be subject to these same rules, I don't see why they'd be any more popular, it's not a free service, so if server owners aren't going to pay for servers, who's going to pay for a realms server? If this is all a ploy to try and create a market for realms, it's a very bad one to say the least.

  3. the floating head
  4. That's intended behaiour, heads appear like that when worn by Baby villagers and Zombies
  5. One could argue its an attempt to destabilize larger servers, and push players more to smaller servers with friends.

Then when you get to that level.... realms isn’t so bad of an option.

But considering realms is pure vanilla, they can't really sell perks any-ways.
  6. I'ma just bump this a little because I just saw this message in chat:

So first things that popped into my head:

I think wording should have been thought of before broadcasting this to all the servers, as this makes it sound as if Mojang is threatening to rip EMC itself apart, when they are trying to crack down on those servers who charge you $50 to even do a single thing on the server.
  7. Mojang is forcing servers to segregate free and paying supporters. Free players will not be allowed to access Utopia. This is Mojang dividing our community. So either paid players are reduced to the same status as free or they can never play with free. I believe this makes the server announcement accurate. Mojang is targeting every server, including ours with a harsh punish them all policy, regardless of how much or in our case how little players have been charged. Lots of EMC players find the changes being forced upon us upsetting and therefore agree with the tone of the announcement. Some of us are very worried about how EMC will get financial support. I really can't understand how you can play on EMC and not be concerned about these changes.....
  8. There are ways to get the financial support, I'm just saying that the wording of the message isn't that great and could freak people out. Does this also mean supporters are stuck on one server while everyone else gets the rest? I'm not extremely concerned to the point I'm losing sleep, but I do worry. I'd hate to see EMC shut down but the way people have gone about arguing with them has gotten to the point I doubt they care to see what people say anymore. :/ You make it sound like I don't even care what happens. Sure I don't play a lot, but EMC will find ways to survive is what I'm saying.

Edit: I've also been out of the loop because I had to move, it was just shocking to see this message.

  9. We will find a way yes, but Mojangs current defence is "The majority of players support us on this"... So we need to make it clearer to the players so the PLAYERS are the ones complaining to Mojang and not just the server owners, which Mojang considers us all "Just fighting to keep the money".

I still feel the statement is appropriate, as MrsWishes said. If Mojang gets their way, Supporters either have to forfeit their perks to play with their friends, or not play with their friends....

It disrupts our overall server design and brings a wedge into our community that we've worked so hard to unite.

We have to try to cause a storm to Mojang to get them to bend.

But if we fail, then we will comply as much as possible, but who's to say we have to stop fighting after Aug 1st.

  10. I'm sure you care about EMC, you have been playing a long time. I think the message is intended to freak people out so they get involved and we certainly all hope that enough players support every month without getting any game-affecting perks.

If you want to catch up on what has been discussed read this thread http://empireminecraft.com/threads/...-changes-discussion.39969/page-14#post-758142.

Edit: oops, I thought Panda's post was it's own thread....I think it got moved to EULA thread, anyway just start at the beginning of this thread.

  11. With the Utopia server possibly only being accessible to paying supporters, it's REALLY going to hurt those that have large shops on Utopia. If free players are not allowed to access the Utopia shops, it's going to seriously hurt the Utopia shop owners when half the player population can't come to their shops (assuming that the free player population is that big, don't know the ratio of free vs paying).
  12. Wait, slow down there. People actually shop on utopia?!
boozle628, penfoldex, mba2012 and 2 others like this.
  13. There are a few shops on utopia, a large sugarcane/paper shop, and a few people who built large attractions like dragaonimhe's wonderful racetrack. I think some people were planning on building an amusement park there but changed their plans when they learned utopia would be closed to the majority of players.
  14. Pretty sure no one shops on utopia
  15. I was developing a theme park, but I've just had to put it on hold for now...
  16. Pandaseatramen is correct. I have also been a bit off put by the message popping up in chat. We have to remember that it is going out to a lot of young kids on EMC. Kids who will take it literally and be freaked out by it without understanding much about it.

I feel it could have been a lot better if it had been worded something like

"Mojang is making some changes that are going to effect how EMC runs. Find out more here ( with a link to an unbiased bit of information. ) We would like your help reaching out to Mojang and letting them know we have concerns. (link to some kind of petition or something similar.) "

This do or die "tear us apart" wording will do more harm in the end than it could ever help.

I am not in favor or against what mojang is doing. I am pretty on the fence about it.

I am empathetic for the server owners. If this is what Mojang wanted it should have been done from the beginning. Not thrown at them this far down the line. It was poor planning and execution on the part of Mojang.

On the other hand, it is Mojang's game and intellectual property. They have the absolute right to say how and where people are playing it. Yes, Mojang probably would not have done as well without the MP servers, but the MP server would also not be around without minecraft.

It is all a bit of a mess now. But I see both points of view.

    Moving forward.

I'm sorry but this is going to happen. There is really no fighting it. I've spent time looking around and this really does have a lot of support from the player base. As much, if not more support than the people who don't want this to happen. Mojang wants it, and a large amount of the player base has come out in support of it.

So what happens next? Obviously we can't see into the future but here is my best guess.

I think the servers who embrace the new policy and move forward will thrive while everyone else is going to flounder and go under. It is unlikely we will be able to stop it or fight it - so doing so is wasting valuable time that could be used in rebuilding the structures of EMC to come out on top of this.

The servers who move into the future, who are willing to be flexible and roll with the punches will make it through this.

And like the rest of life, anything that is to rigid to bend and change will be broken and shattered by time.

I do hope that EMC is one of the ones that comes out on top.

  17. Probably one of, if not the best responses I've seen in this thread so far. Well thought out and written out of facts and calmness, rather than pure emotion. Bravo. :)

  18. I understand the point made on the wording, but there was a goal to grab attention.

Regardless, It has served its point, and at this point I don't think anything will change, so I have taken down the broadcast (and tweaked timers on the others so its less spammy overall)

Over the past few days I've been working on getting a platform set up to let me send out an email to all members (Emailing thousands of people is no easy task... theres laws to comply with and doing it properly to not end up in everyones spambox)

I am VERY close to having this ready to go. So once I do, I will be posting to forums + sending off an email to supporters + previous supporters informing of upcoming changes.

Going to try to get the post out tomorrow.

  19. Hmm, I couldn't keep up with a 15$ per month payment for long There's a reason why I'm gold and not diamond. If the one rank supporter donation is too high, I'd still want to donate, even without the supporter perks. (Just have to find other places on other servers to gather a couple of key resources). If you have to set the payment bar too high for me, I'd like a way to make a regular monthly donation without any perks at all at a level I can afford to pay.

  20. Currently, if you maintain gold supporter - you would get a 'discount'. Check the Q&A post. :)
