okay.... well 156 members in LLO ( so far - everyone counted except the people who had to live LLO ) Well when i get my internets back I could plan moving somewhere.... with maybe... hired or volunteered crew, somewhere far ( preferably ex-LLO people who might have tired to struggle ) I could maybe try to make a-way-point betweeen LLO and Unknown
Hopefully you're not talking about the railway that I've been working on ("light line"). I'm not aware of any animal pens. Also, I don't know anything about areas that "we wanted untouched" is this kind of stuff noted somewhere? (Hopefully other than in 288 pages of forum posts) On the "why are people making new things rather than fixing the old" front, I got chewed out pretty thoroughly for touching other people's stuff, so unless I see someone on who is actively working on repairs, and I can ask them whether they would like help, I'm going to pretty much assume that everything "man made" is off limits. I did a bunch of repairs to the guest house and surrounds, but since I didn't have permission, I just replaced wood in the floors and walls. This was promptly burned down again, so that was a huge waste of time. Someone else mentioned not rebuilding this stuff out of wood. I'm wondering why so much of the existing stuff was made of wood to begin with. It seems like it's begging to be burned down. I was going to work on the Post Office, but I realized that it is part of the building behind it, and I didn't want to make unapproved changes there either. If there is consensus on what should be fixed and how, I'm happy to help. On the railway front, I brought the light line under Grand Central. We should talk about how we might want to make a platform for it. This work is obviously toward making GC a two story structure, but that isn't the only way to proceed.
Oh, one more thing, we shouldn't be using wool for the base of our tracks. It too is flammable. In the future, we should run the tracks on stone of some sort, and put the flammable color strip in the center...
Repairs should be ok as long as you knew how it looked and it's public OR you have the person's permission to fix it.
Sorry that that you took my explanation for a chewing out. You asked some questions and I answered them as best I could. I didn't make the rules, EMC did. You can't destroy other people's work. As others have explained beyond EMC rules it's really just common sense and respect for other people's work. Part of being in a community is communication. So if you want to do something ask around but don't assume that everyone is reading this thread. If you don't get a response you can always contact people by personal message or in game. As I said many times I'd be very happy to hear the ideas you have for changing grand central. The community was begun by zulu to prove that a wild community could survive despite the risk of griefing. So when we build things we don't let the threat of griefers force us to build a certain way. If someone thinks it looks nicer in wood or wool then they will build it that way. It only takes a few minutes to chop a tree or shear a sheep and fix the damage.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I HATH RETURNED, Due to short notice IRL stuff i have not been able to get online the past few months, but now i am back and hopefully here to stay !!!!! I have sorely missed this place and i hope i can continue to live in LLO ! I just hope my house wasnt taken down........if i can ever get to where it was, as i am hopelessly lost and there is a lot of stuff that has been added since i left......
