Extreme PC lag when playing Minecraft

  1. Are you using your old RAM with your new RAM? If not, it could be a different issue, since you mentioned that it happens with other programs (not limited to MC).
  2. Sorry, it only happens with MC, nothing else creates this and for RAM I put in 4 brand new RAM, pretty much identical to ones I had already in.
  3. I'm confused. The vanilla launcher allows as many different accounts as you want, right? At least the one I use does (which is this one). It might not be as convenient in the general case, but I think it should be tried to see if it changes anything.

  4. Yes you can sign in as many accounts as you want but you would have to log out then log in each alt you want to use. When you use a different launcher, all the accounts are technically logged in already so you select the account and start a game.

Update from last night. Made 3 brand new 1.20.4 instances, just plain vanilla with no mods, and this morning was still lagged out.

Yea going to try this next. :)
  5. Downloaded this one and they must have changed things since last I used it. I was able to log in all accounts and looks like it's now as easy as selecting what account you want to use and start game. No more needing to constantly log in.
  6. I may have to try that launcher out myself, because that's one of my biggest gripes with Microsoft forcing us to have a Microsoft account. All my alts have an email account associated with every one of them and it's a major pain to deal with... :\

  7. So after 2 days of using the vanilla launcher, running 4-5 accounts at once, there was zero lagging. These were all without any mods, just pure vanilla. I might try again with mods to see if it was the Prism launcher this whole time or the mods. Although I've been using Prism on my laptop as well and not a single issue like this ever.
  8. I'm glad you have no more lag! Sounds like my suspicion that it could be the mods was correct. Sometimes mods clash because of incompatibility with each other. Personally I've never had this issue, but I do know it's a thing that can happen. I hope you can find out which one(s) were causing the issue! --- I'm curious which one(S) caused the issue!

  9. I'm still very curious what the issue was. Can you screenshot your Java settings? Things can get seriously messed up if it's modified from usual.

  10. So almost a week with vanilla launcher with and without mods, not a single issue. Wasn't until I ran another instance with Prism that it froze again. Although vanilla is working, I prefer to use Prism since switching and adding versions is far easier. Hopefully this issue can be resolved.

This is the settings I have always ever used. Strange that I can wun as many instances as I want on my laptop and no issues. I see you are using Prism 8.0, I was on an older version. Maybe I will try 8.
  11. So I have been running Prism 8.0 all day today, 4 instances, one of which has all my normal mods. So far everything looks good, no issues. We'll see how they are in the morning.

  12. I wonder what it means that the checkbox at Memory is unchecked... seems like perhaps it doesn't take the limit of 4 GiB into account?

  13. Ya not sure why that is. The other thing is in the older version of Prism I was using (7.2) I had to manually locate the java installation but using version 8, it was not nessesary.
  14. Have you had any issues recently? I'm glad that Prism is working out for you so far! :D
  15. Not a single issue in the last 2 days. I could never make it a day without freezing up. Maybe my old version just had an issue :D

  16. Awesome, let's hope it stays that way! 😎️

  17. PC froze up again today but was different. After I closed the game and launcher (slowly) everything was good again.
