  2. I know some may be upset to hear this, but I've never seen any of the Star Wars movies, from start to end. I've only seen small 15 second clips of some of the movies. (Mainly used in parodies online.)

I watched the first 5 minutes of the first movie, the first one released in 1977, and I was impressed. Granted it doesn't look like "anything special" when compared to today's standards, but for 1977 special effects, it looks really amazing. I can definitely see how people got into this Sci Fi genre back then and why the franchise took off!

(My friends were into Star Wars a lot when they were younger. Both of them developed polarizing opinions about the franchise, but I believe that's par for the course with Star Wars fans?)

  3. Me neither. As long as they're rated 6 I wouldn't mind watching them (and if they're rated 12 I would do some more research and consider it), but nobody has ever invited me to watch any of 'em. :p

  4. The Star Wars community is very infamous for being polarizing. I guess the one thing all of us Star Wars fans can agree on is that the original trilogy is great. Otherwise, it's chaos. People love/hate the prequels, people love/hate the sequels. Some people think Disney ruined Star Wars, others think they saved them. It can come down to something as simple as a character decision.

Here are some of my hot takes on Star Wars, surely to be disagreed upon by other fans (no spoilers):
-Return of the Jedi is a reasonably weak film, primarily carried by the throne room scene.
-Revenge of the Sith is not only the best prequel, but one of the best Star Wars movies. Not always hitting home on the base criteria of a movie, but nearly perfecting the themes and deeper conflicts of the franchise.
-The Last Jedi is exactly what Star Wars should be. It takes risks, for better or for worse, and it moves the series in new directions. This is something The Empire Strikes Back did, and essentially the reason the franchise is so popular.
-Both The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker played everything too safe and ended up being more formulaic than innovative.
-Hayden Christensen isn't a bad actor. George Lucas just can't write a complex script for the life of him.
-Irvin Kershner is the best director to work on Star Wars, and Rian Johnson is the second best.
-Solo would've been a better movie if it wasn't connected to Star Wars.
-Ahsoka Tano becomes a symbol for what every Jedi should be.
-Adam Driver is the best actor to have a major role in Star Wars.
-John Williams's score is the most consistent thing about the Star Wars franchise.
-The Phantom Menace had more potential to be a great Star Wars movie than most of the other flawed ones.
-Boba Fett, in canon, has never been nearly as interesting as people think. His best moment was in Attack of the Clones (if you know, you know).
-Star Wars will never be the same without George Lucas, so the people working on Star Wars content should focus less on recreating what Lucas did, and more on creating their own style.
-Dave Filoni should be to Star Wars what Kevin Feige is to Marvel.

It's important to understand that opinions are opinions, and people will naturally disagree. That's not anything to get mad or harsh about (which the Star Wars community often forgets). Star Wars is a series of stories, that a lot of people love for many great reasons. It shouldn't be as polarizing as it is, fun discussions and disagreements should be allowed and welcomed. They just need to stay fun and not get toxic.

To the people that haven't seen Star Wars: maybe it's not for you, and that's fine. If you haven't checked it out to know if it is/isn't for you, I highly encourage it! Star Wars offers a lot of entertainment, some of the best characters you'll fall in love with, and many really important messages.

  5. Bumperoo! LotR and Hobbit is still in the lead (thank goodness - although I would like to see Hunger Games get a bit more) ;)

    Poor DC :( :lmao:
