Safe Area For Transferring Items

  1. I would like to see an area near the Ender Chests at the Town or Outpost teleports where we can transfer items between Shulker Chests, Ender Chests and our Vaults.

    If we are playing on a different server from the one our Residence is on we currently have to Vault items to Inventory in Town/Outpost, go outside the Outpost and place a Shulker Chest, open it and transfer the items from Inventory into the Shulker Chest(s) then return if there are more items to be Vaulted. Once we have switched servers, we do the opposite: Leave Outpost->SChest->Inventory->Enter Outpost->Access Vault->Repeat.

    This isn't as much of a problem if we are on our Town server and playing in the same server's Waste, for example, since we have our Residence. When traveling between servers, we are left open to mob attacks when transferring between the Shulker Chests and Inventory. Even if it were safe, it is tedious to transfer the contents of multiple chests this way.

    It would be handy to have a spot near each Ender Chest at the Town teleports area or the Outposts where we may place a Shulker Chest.

    If allowing a block to be placed in these areas presents a problem, perhaps the area where mobs cannot attack us can be extended out farther beyond the Outpost boundary. I usually keep an Ender Chest with me so this would only be a touch less convenient in my case.

    Another possible solution might be to provide a custom Shulker Chest at the teleport area that I can access but not remove, something like the current Ender Chests. When I right click on one with my own Shulker Chest the contents are transferred from one to the other and then I could proceed to transfer the items elsewhere. This would be an extra step for us and extra programming effort, but would resolve the permission and mob problems as well as the inconvenience of running in and out of the Outpost.
  2. I LOVE THIS idea !!
    I usually stand on the steps of the waste and place the shulker on the ground. The last step allows me to access vault and fill/unload shulkers while being protected from pesky skeleton snipers, but I do find myself running up the steps to access the enderchest, check on items, etc.

    But for the Frontier.... this is not a do-able procedure. Have to walk all the way to the edge of the boundary to do it there. It is inconvenient. Some other method for loading/unloading shulkers would be appreciated.

    :oops: and further question: why can't we use the anvils in the Frontier Spawns?
  3. I hate to be the annoying dissenter, but I kind of feel like that would take away from the concept of a survival server. Besides, if you just set up on the edge of the protected zone, you can pretty much go straight to the vault while standing in the safe zone. You just put down and ender chest on the first block outside the protected area. Then pull out your shulkers and place them in the same area. You never have to face a single mob that way. I usually do that in the nether waste for ease of use.

  5. Out of all the weird gimmicks on EMC - this would take away from survival?

    This is more of a QOL change than actual gameplay, I don’t think this takes anything away from survival that other “mechanics” of the server don’t already do.
  6. Bumping this, in case there is any plans to re-do the spawn design based on the new update and 1.16 is coming.

    Also want to tie in LindenNZ's idea to add the elytra take-off area (some of us are not great fliers and sometimes need a good drop to take off)

  7. I would like to add this:

    There currently is a way to do this in the frontier, if you have an outpost or whatever:
    simply go caving around the frontier spawn at which you want to be able to unload your shulkers, and try to find a cave that goes into the protected area. When you have done so, close it off by convincing terraforming and make the cave part in the frontier protected area the place to access your vaults and whatnot, and the place outside, wich you can modefy and buildmode protect yourself, into a shulker-placement+enderchest heaven. Maybe even have some locked chests there, with some essentials. You can teleport to it using alternate accounds. By making sure you always have one present, you can elliminate the need of paths towards it that could give its location away.
    It is a lot of effort the first time, you can easily spent an entire day on it, but, in the long run, if you're there often, it's really worth it, I can assure you :p

    Because I alredey own such a place (obviously) I would probably never use a place as described here, but I can (obviously, as I spent the effort making one myself) see it being usefull. :)

When I came up with this idea, allowing us to vault Shulker Chests would have been my first choice and I made this suggestion as a work around since I thought vaulting shulkers was something that Chickeneer had noped out on when Shulker Chests were introduced. I was pleasantly surprised when he added it. I can still see a convenience aspect to adding a transfer spot to the Outposts, but I think the problem is pretty well resolved. Thanks for thinking of it though, Katy.

    I have mixed feelings about an Elytra platform. Personally, I prefer the adventure aspect of finding an appropriate place to jump from. On the other hand, it would be convenient when I just want to get to my destination as well as cut down on pillars around Spawn areas.

  9. Also, why is an elytra pad needed? I’m not sure why someone would pilot an Elytra without fireworks, and you can deploy from the ground that way.

    So maybe someone can enlighten me why an elytra pad is even needed..?

  10. Some of us fly, but are not accomplished enough to take off from the ground. We require a bit of a drop to take off.

  12. It also requires a good-ish. It is extreemly easy for me in singleplayer, but my internet simply doesn't allow me to do it on EMC, as my ping is usually above a second. Most outposts have a high enough drop somewhere near or on itself to make it work, though, and I wouldn't need a platform.
