Not sure how it is across the pond, but the Public Library or possibly your schools library usually have computers you can use for free. Some have time limits on how long you can use them depending on demand, but still might be useful in a pinch? Then we wouldn't have to say goodbye ^_^

Thats what I was talking about ... I am doing this alongside studying too. I am working like 30hr a month for a couple hundred euro. If I have exam I dont work they ask me if I have time to do something for them and if I have I do if not I dont. Its really simple.
Well, I've got to say this is a very interesting thread! And although not being the original subject, I find Hasorko's point about freelance very interesting too. I might look into that sometime myself!
I can only talk about my experience in germany, but since you can do a job like that pretty much from anywhere, it shouldnt be too much of a difference. I myself live 400km+ away from the company I work for at the moment. And to start the job I only had to fill out a single form and I was already able to write bills to the company. Also since this isnt huge money as a side job you also dont pay taxes (in germany but I suppose other counties also dont bother as long as you dont make the big money). Also in companies with younger staff (Like somewhat established start ups), its really fun to work with. Its not close as stiff as bigger companies. It was a quick talk via phone, then I got a task they looked into it like my work and then we kept going like that ^^.
