I prefer the originals. 1 is fun but pretty basic. 2 though, is amazing. Nothing beats constantly attacking yourself in front of basic goblins so that you take damage and gain a ton of health. The absense of classes and standard levels is fun and lets you experiment with your own combos. The 4th member being story people is also cool. The world is huge and the entire game is tons of fun and everyone should try it out. There is some grinding, but you can do most of it at the very beginning and get in the 1000's of hp before getting the canoe. I never got far in the aftergame quests though because I never leveled up the story characters I have 3 for the ds and it is pretty cool although the grinding after a boss fight is pretty painful and slow. I have 7 crisis core on a psp and it is really fun but totally different from the others. I managed to "cheat" through the game by standing far away from everything and using ice to kill everything at a distance. The final boss fight is easy when your attack can hit him even when you shouldn't be able to. Also, I can't tell if my game glitched or not, but it is incredibly weird watching the main character talking to Cloud when cloud looks like he is totally dead and unresponsive near the end.
8 was the first one I played so I wasn't familiar with the "other" magic system. I got used to it once I played nine though. After that I played 7 then 10 then 10-2. I played one of the newer ones on the ps3 I bought and played on one time for a couple hours. That ps3 and that final fantasy went in the storage area never to be seen again lol. I don't remember which one it was and that was a long time ago. Edit: The ball game thing in 10 was fun. I didn't like the progression and 10-2 was even worse yuck. I never really got into the whole chocobo thing. I did kill the ultima bosses in 8. Man that was annoying. The dragon bahamut thing wasn't really worth it imo.
Gonna have to go with 10... I only played about 3-4 hours on all of them but 10 was the only I ever beat.
8 was always my favorite, 6 was really good and so was 7, the only annoying thing I can find in 8 is junctioning... It allows you to get overpowered really easily (I beat Ultimecia in 10 minutes) but its so long and time consuming!
Unfortunately, I have 4 favorites and there is not a multiple choice option.. T^T ...Technically 7 if you go into non-canonical games.. FF4(including AY), FF6, FF7 and FFXIV are the 3 that are my favorites, and the non-canonical ones are FFTactics Advance, Final Fantasy Theatrhythm Curtain Call, and Dissidia.. <,<
Early curaga juntion from fighting the "demi" boss dude(oh and demi junctioning) for super OPness almost right out the gate lol. I didn't have any clue about that the first time I played though so I went through the game without the benefits of being too OP. Haste, aura and squalls limit break though... that got used on ultima weapon for sure lol.
I am surprized it is not FF6 as Kefka is like the only bad guy in final fantasy whom actually succeeded in destroying the world.. In fact this destruction of the world happens not even half way through the game, and much of the later game is your journey to find all of your friends that were scattered to the wind when Kefka moved the Warring Triad including Shadow (If you stopped to save her while racing for your life off the floating island of the Warring Triad)..
Anyone else a fan of the originals ? I really should check out 10 since so many people like it. If you get the chance, you can get everything up to 6 for android/apple although you have to pay 7-17 dollars for each one.

I know it's kinda different and people think that is not Final Fantasy series, but I like Final Fantasy Tactics the best. I cannot decide the 2nd one so I can vote, both 7 and 9 are my favorite <3
3000hp on Disk one, I didn't even use the Ruby Light Carbuncle strategy for the final disk 1 boss, I just drew Cura from Edea with Squall, kept casting that, meanwhile attacking with Rinoa and Irvine. ...rekt
