?

Which server would best serve to jump start a bigger, more inclusive outpost for everyone?

  1. OK, for anyone following Legit's thread for what is not so great about the Empire these days....here is my idea. Take it or leave it.

I want to start an outpost to connect everyone together socially and play some minecraft together. No clicks, no clans, no exclusion. Everyone is welcome. Especially from every server.

I'll start it. The rest is up to the community to take it where it will go. Please vote on the poll to decide which server to start it on. We can change the name and I am open to suggestions. Let's try to vote on servers that you don't play on much to expand your social group.

I'll edit this post as better ideas come along from everyone.

    All the best,

    Chum
  2. I haven't given up hope of starting this yet. Just, please give me a word of encouragement if you want this to happen.

I'm still very open to suggestions!

  3. I think this is a great idea, but most people are going to be afraid of the griefing. Even during Friday Night Mining people grief (they get in trouble of course). I think possibly putting something together similar to Friday Night Mining except in a smaller group would be a good idea. Just get a group of about 20 and go do something together like mining, building, mob fighting, etc.
  4. Yeah, while griefing could be a very small issue, many of the largest outposts out there rarely got griefed. (LLO). I think that it's a great idea.

  5. I think that this is a great idea! What I was thinking though is that there will be greifers, and while they will get banned, theres nothing staff can do about fixing a greif (or atleast I have never seen it be done). So ya, maybe make a small group and go mining, mob fighting, or something like that.

  6. Its a good but bad idea.

  7. I can agree on this.
Because even though theres people that actually follow the rules, theres always that 2-12% of people on EMC that would just grief the outpost.
I think, as well, a small smp [ like smp9 :D ] would be a good place to start out w/ for this. Because smp9, sorry if this is your home smp :(, is really not as crowded as most smp's like smp1, smp4, and maybe smp7 on good days :D.

But as I and Drmadfate have said, it can start off to be a great idea, but those 2-12% will tear it into pieces. But you still get a +1 from me :D
  8. Well, I think I know and have experienced everything that has been mentioned above. I'm still playing Empire, because there is really good community in many places and the good players are much more present than the bad. I want to keep this as inclusive as possible, but with everything in mind I propose:

    1. Let's start with a location on smp9 for reasons stated above.
    2. Everyone's job will be to look for a wastelands location as a team-building location. OK, not a permanent home, but a grounds for getting to know one another and feeling out play styles and what not.
    3. Everyone looks for a trusted friend to invite to join the party.
    4. Everyone encourages at least one staff to join in the party. I'm hoping that eventually this can be a group of new players, old players, staff, hardcore players and even more occasional player. I know staff will be hard to bring in to play with, but let's at least try.
    5. Start thinking about what would be useful to build.

  9. I was gonna say smp2 'cause there's nothing interesting there to keep me in town >.>

  10. Thats a wise idea. But staff { whoever you chose } does have other responsibilities on the Empire as well, so it'd be better to just let them moderate when suspicious activity is notified. #3 is as well a good idea because you have other peoples word on "Player B" from "Player A". But #4 would be hard.
  11. I'll help however you want when I'm not busy Chum. (It's baseball season)

  12. Ill help as well, sorry for triple posting on this thread today :p. But I like how ur doing the format ahead of time.
  13. There is already an open, established, cummunity outpost: it has not been used.

Public builds always get griefed. The farther from town they are, the less they get griefed.

Maintaining a public area near town is very difficult Mentally. You have to suffer the 2% griefers regularly and it's difficult to see and remember they are only the 2%.

Outposts just don't get used that often by most poeople. Missing out on mail, town chat, shops and easy server swapping is not easy. Until aikar/chickeneer start on land claiming most poeople will not spend much time in the frontier.

That being said, I love outposts, if you can find one of the 5% that appreciate them to work with you on them, they are very rewarding.

  15. Actually, I know and understand these problems. I'm really setting this up to build community. To get together some players that have never played together before. Not really for making a permanent outpost just yet. This will just start in the waste and if the group is working well together, we can start something better and more permanent in the way beyond Frontier. For now, this is purely for social reasons and to start something new.
  16. Awesome :) sounds like a good start.
