[New] EMC Market Buy/Sell Portal - Suggestions/Bug Reports

Discussion in 'Marketplace Discussion' started by azoundria, Sep 16, 2014.

  1. Well if you can't get the item your looking for on Smp8 (guessing that's home Smp) you can always go to other shops on the other Smp's and using the /vault command bring the item to Smp8 :)

  2. I'm still working on the tool, just haven't posted anything. Updates from prior to October 19th:

    New Features
    - Added the ability to 'Bump' listings. Basically this just confirms that you were able to perform the purchase or sale successfully. Listings with more 'bumps' will disappear for shorter periods of time when 'Out', 'Full', or 'Gone' in the future.
    - Added splash potions and potion of leaping (preparing for 1.8).
    - Added all different glass panes, as well as price comparisons between normal glass and glass panes of all types.
    - Added new categories for all the various types of tools and armour, as well as splash potion, bottled potions, and potions in general.
    - Added comparison links between logs and planks, stairs (all kinds), slabs (all kinds), wood products (boats, bowls, buttons, chests, crafting tables, doors, fences, fence gates, ladders, signs, sticks, trapdoors, axes, hoes, pickaxes, pressure plates, shovels, swords), cobblestone walls, mossy cobblestone walls, nether fences, furnaces, stone buttons, stone pressure plates, and carpets.
    - Added comparison for all kinds of sand and sandstone.
    - Added icons for hoes and wooden tools.

    Bug Fixes
    - Removed the 'edit' link for items which are comparable, as it doesn't work properly.
    - Removed pumpkin seeds and lily pads from potion category.
    - Fixed icon for dead bushes.
    - Fixed shop name for 'Fire Charge'/'Fireball'.
    - Added chirp disc to music discs category.

    Tweaks
    - Made the 'Show Comparable' setting off by default. Seems that others are not as excited about this as I was and even confused in some cases. Of course, I have a sample size of one.
    - If you type the exact name of an item, it appears at the top of the search result regardless if another item is more popular and starts with the same letters. For example, searching 'stick' would have shown 'sticky piston' on top and searching 'sand' would have shown 'sandstone' on top.
    - Reduced the length of time that items will disappear for being out of stock.
    - Fixed the names of enchanted books to not be cut off.
    - After getting frustrated having to search the wiki all the time, I added potion data values to be searchable. (Many shops list potions by data value.)
    - Products sold in shops are organized by popularity so the most popular products will be displayed.
    - When deleting a listing in the bulk adder, the search bar is automatically focused.

    Back End
    - Better organized the JavaScript by creating a common library.
    - Allowed names to be longer (up to 40 characters).
    - Better organized the comparison file.
    - Reset the suggestion cache.

  3. Suggestion: Populate a search box on the results page so once I've found one item I don't have to go back to the main page to search for a completely new item. Thanks again for your work!
  4. I see you DO have this, but at the bottom -- possible to move to the top? That's probably picky of me, but I *just* noticed it was at the bottom, and that's after using the tool for quite awhile.

  5. Okay I moved it to the top for now. I don't know how much I like it there but I'll leave it there for now. If anyone else has an opinion either way, please voice it now. :p

  6. I very much like it there better! My preference, though, and I'm just one guy. :)

  7. Wow, this is an excellent tool Azoundria. Been wanting something like this for ages. Much better than trying to update a shops and attractions thread. and no bias.

Although, still issues with shops out of stock etc. :) (shame we can't pull that info from server)

I've registered myself there, though most of my stuff is out of stock, or low. :) I'll have to remove half the signs.

  8. Yeah the out of stock sucks, but my tool aims to solve that too. If the shop has stock, use the 'Bump' link. If it's 'Out' then use the 'Out' link. If you bought it out of stock, you can 'Bump' then 'Out'. Over time, the shops that are consistently out of stock will disappear and the shops that have regular stock will remain.

The 'Out' link hides the listing for some time, which doubles every repeated time it is out of stock. It also shows up for the shop owner if they have an account, so they can restock and relist it.

  9. Works for me! :) Helps everyone out, including shop owners. Can't see a downside too it.

  10. Suggestion #1: Ability to search by seller name OR the ability to click on a seller's name after you search for a particular item and then see a listing of all items by that seller.

Suggestion #2: When hovering over an item name or icon, display the item ID, same info you get from /iteminfo inside EMC. That would help tons as I'm adjusting my shop prices to the market.

    Thanks!

  11. If I give you a list of all the items in an excel spreadsheet would you be willing to go through and get me the IDs for each?

  12. Not sure how easy it would be to scrape automatically, but the list of IDs can be found at http://minecraft-ids.grahamedgecombe.com/ :)

  13. It's not hard to scrape a list like that. Exactly what ID should I be displaying though? The number? Or the string that goes on shop signs?
    tuqueque likes this.
  14. The number (including the : on any which have them) are the ones that /iinfo shows, so I presume that's what's wanted by npralle.
  15. I think he's talking about listing them on his shop sign, so you wouldn't usually use that number (although you could). Also, aren't those numbers not being used anymore in 1.8 in favour of the different names?
  16. You can use the new names that 1.8 will use in shops signs now. You can also use the older id numbers as well. We are in a 'crossover' period where both are in use. But come 1.8, you will not be able to use the old number id's at all.

I'm not sure what Aikar has planned, i know we'll be using unique EMC player identification, but i think block identification will be 1.8 name ID's.

If it's not possible to show both ID's, I'd highly recommend you start displaying 1.8 identifiers rather than the old ID numbers. People should learn them anyway. :) IMHO

  17. Is anyone even currently using item IDs in their shop? Or wouldn't you rather get the shop name, which is the name that gets put on the sign. Many of the item IDs will probably be too long to fit on shop signs and the first 15 characters will be the same between two different IDs, so I'm not sure how that will be resolved.

To give an example, 'stained_hardened_clay' versus 'stained_hardened_clay:1'... Only 'stained_hardene' is going to fit on the sign. So what will be done in that case? 'stained_hard:1' through 'stained_har:15'? Or 'stained_har:1' through 'stained_har:15'? What about 'stained_glass:15' which is 16 characters long? Will it be 'stained_glas:15'? How will that be disambiguated from 'stained_glass_pane:15'?

But are people really going to use the IDs on their signs in favour of the current shop names?
    tuqueque and 607 like this.
  18. When I make a new shop sign, I have to do:
    <blank>
    Quantity
    Rupee Cost
    ItemID

ItemID I get from holding the item and doing /iteminfo

THAT is what I'd like to see on the website so that when I walk around my shop and adjust pricing, I can simply break the current sign, look in the shop to see what the ItemID is, and recreate the sign at a competitive price. Right now, I have to break the sign, pull the item out of the frame above the chest or one item out of the chest, hold it, do /iteminfo, then put it back, remember the number, and recreate the sign. Just trying to shortcut the process. :)

And maybe I'm doing it the hard way already....??
  19. You use the 'Name' field that comes up when you do that, right? Which is different from the ID which is a number.

I know most of these, but I can't be 100% sure of them. And if I got one wrong, it could mean someone's shop didn't work.
    tuqueque likes this.
  20. No, I've always used the number.

    /iteminfo right now gives me:

    Name: Diamond Axe
ID (use on the last line of shop sign): 279:856

So I would make a sign with:

    <blank>
    1
    B 500
    279:856

And it would create a sign to sell a Diamond Axe at 500r each.

Since it's always said in the instructions to use the ID, not the name, that's what I've done. If I can use the Name and it works just as well, well then.....I guess I don't have to worry about the ID. :)
