  1. Hi, it's me again!

I think you all remember minecraft 2.0.
It came out april 1st last year, and I really enjoyed it.
Then it turned out 2.0 would not be developed any further, and they would continue at the previous version again.
In later updates though, I saw many changes that reminded me of 2.0.
So I am here to look at the changes in minecraft 2.0, and see what got implemented into other versions later on.

You are not forced to read everything, because there may be many things not implemented. The green things may be the most relevant. (Well, later on I just put an
X without any further explanation, so yeah:p)

    I'll place O's and X's
    What changed?

Whilst we aren’t nearly finished with the 2.0 update, we do have a partial changelog of what we’ve done so far. There’s much more to come, this is only the beginning!
    Gameplay

    • Added new Super Hostile game mode, for a much more challenging Survival experience. This terrible almost constant lightning with various mobs spawned is still considered way too hard. X

[*]Difficulty setting is now per-world and may never be changed once set. Difficulty setting is saved per world instead of accross the whole minecraft, and you can lock it to prevent you from ever changing it again. O
[*]Added new graphics setting “Ultra Realistic” with new patent-pending experimental 4D-rendering. 4D-rendering on pc games, is, as far as I know, still not invented. X
[*]Added new chase-style 3D camera perspective. We're still stuck with only 3 possible viewing modes, togglable with F5. X

    Animals

    • Added new realistic food/hunger system to animals. Animals still do not need to eat, and can't starve. X
    • Overfeeding animals may have a negative effect on gameplay. No, nothing here. X
    • Added a new “Horse” animal, with two different breeds to choose from. Yup, horses got added defenitely. There are a lot different species, and there are even donkeys and mules. They got a different texture. O
    • Each animal now has a gender and personality, introducing new farming mechanics. Cows are still breedable without a bull. X
    • Added a new rare breed of chicken known as a “Diamond Chicken”. X
      • May lay diamonds or lapis instead of laying eggs.
      • May also blow up from too much pressure. Handle with care.
    • Added new friendly Pink Wither, which is the complete opposite of a wither. X
      • Shoots out Love, which heals the nearby land and causes things to grow faster.
      • Known bug: Having both a Pink Wither and a Wither in your world at the same time may cause up to a 200% increase in framerate. Will be fixed for launch.
    • All animals may be fed Golden Apples to unleash their hidden magical properties (see new Magic section). X
    • Chickens are now classified as a Monster and are no longer a friendly Animal. X
    Monsters

    • Chickens do not appreciate being looked at and may get upset. X
    • Attacking a lone chicken may summon additional chickens to its defense. X
    • Zombie Pigmen now spawn with battlesigns and no longer use swords. X
    • Fixed a bug causing Skeletons to miss their targets on occasion. X
    • Added new Redstone Bug monster (see Redstone section). X

    Continued in next post
  2. Blocks

    • Furnaces have a new “heat” mechanic. X
    • Heat needs to be regulated in furnaces or they will blow up. X
    • Torches now burn out after a period of time, but may be relit with flint and steel. X
    • Added new TNT slab, known as an Etho Slab. X
    • Renamed Droppers to floppers, by popular community demand. X
      • Droppers were deemed too powerful and go against our original vision of the game.
      • Floppers now turn everything that passes through them into raw fish (see Fishing section).
    • Added six (6) new decoration blocks:
      • Mud.
      • Hay bales.
      • Lapis Lazuli.
      • Slime blocks. Hay bales, slime blocks and lapis lazuli are all three in the game. Only weird thing is, lapis lazuli was in the game already before 2.0 O
    • Added new compressed storage blocks for commonly mined ores:
      • Coal Block. Coal block is obtainable now O
      • Lapis Lazuli Block.
      • Redstone Block Block.
    • Lapis may now be used for new Lapis furniture. X
    • Added dyed glass. Dyed glass is implemented, the texture and recipe are different I think, and they are named stained glass. O
    • Walking over many blocks will gradually wear them down, creating many new block variants such as Cracked Stone and Muddy Grass. X
    Redstone

    • Removed all BUD behaviour, and added safeguards so that it may never come back. X
    • Made redstone bugs spawn actual Redstone Bugs to assist with debugging. X
    • Added new Quantum Entangled redstone, obtained by mixing 1 redstone, 1 diamond and 3 lapis. X
      • One entangled redstone dust will connect to another pair elsewhere.
      • No current way of specifying the connection, may in fact connect to another player’s world.
    • Added new BUD blocks. X
    Magic

    • Added new Magic and Luck levels per player. X
    • Finding a Rainbow after rain passes will be the primary way of obtaining Magic. X
    • Finding a green-tinted horse will be the primary way of obtaining Luck. X
    • Added new spell system, costing magic to perform a spell. X
    • Spells may backfire, depending on Luck. X
    • Examples of new spells include: X
      • Turn any item into Fish.
      • Turn current biome into another biome (bug: currently only turns into ocean).
      • Ability to remove gravity from other creatures/players in the world.
    Fishing

    • Overhauled fishing mechanics. Yup, fishing works differently now, for example, you can see splashes when the fish is coming towards you. O
    • New special types of fish may be found in various different biomes. Yes, it doesn't matter what biome you are in, but you can get pufferfish, clownfish and something else. O
    • Fish may become scared if too much noise is made nearby. X
    • Added 28 new achievements for fishing. X
    • Rare chance for extra items to drop when fishing, such as armor and maps. Yes, there are trash and treasure things you can get through fishing. O
    • Removed fishing. X
    • Having a fish in your possession will drain your health by 1 each second, to help phase out fishing. X
    Combat

    • Removed crossbows. Um, yes? They're not here in each case. O
    • To deter cheating players on PvP servers, the PvP system has been completely redesigned. X
    • Players may no longer attack other players directly, but must recruit an army of Monsters and Animals. X
    • Each monster/animal has different strengths, weaknesses and abilities whilst attacking or defending in PvP combat. X
    • New turn-based combat system will help create epic battles that may last hours at a time. X
    World generation & terrain

    • Added many new mysterious adventuring locations. It depends how you look at it. In my opinion the new biomes are mysterious adventuring locations an sich. O
    • Added 6 new biomes. Yes, I think so. Mesa, savanne, dark forest, mega taiga, ice spikes, and variations like extreme hills + O
    • Reimplemented the Farlands. X
      • Going near the farlands will forcefully enable 3d anaglyph.
      • Known bug: Teleporting towards the farlands may send you half way in the opposite direction.
    • Added dozens of new village building templates. X
    • Flattened all terrain out slightly, with the exception of the hills biome to make it seem bigger by contrast. X
    • Added floating sky islands. You may or may not qualify AMPLIFIED as this. O

I counted 12 already implemented features of which people first thought they were completely fake. What will be next...

  3. Where did you get your sources from?

    SOLVED

  4. Right... This first time I heard of this and no links in discription showing no proof on it. Mc 2 isn't coming anytime soon borderlands 3 is more likely to come out before then. "I know two differnet companies here but BL3 isn't even on development" Mojang is making too much money off Mc to stop working on it and give us final version of it.

FYI: just read it again, just sounds like bunch of theories put together.
  5. This was an actual update. April 1st update.

  6. Most of the features there wont be added at all as 2.0 was just an april fools joke, any features added later were merely coincidences.
And the "horses" were just retextured pigs lol

  8. Retextured cows too. I believe horses still had the utters.
  9. uhh, I don't understand this response???
https://mojang.com/2013/04/its-finally-coming-minecraft-2-0/ is the source of the Minecraft 2.0 April Fools Joke where it listed various changes to Minecraft. He simply pointed out that some ended up being implemented later on.

  10. I meant where did he get all this 2.0 information. After reading Mojang's post about this I now know.

I was wondering where he got all the 2.0 information from, since it is different from the Minecraft Wiki.
  11. Right at the bottom of the post you linked lol
  12. But it has been a "real" update :p I mean, of course, it was april fools and I knew it, but the .jar was available for download.
