UPDATE: Hey everyone! First of all, I owe a HUGE thank-you to everyone that's replied to this thread. You see so many examples of people on the internet being jerks that it's actually pleasantly surprising to see everyone being nice to a newbie for once. After considering both what I want out of a server, along with recommendations from everyone else, I've decided to join up on SMP Five. I'm currently living in Residence 11136, although predictably there's next to nothing worth seeing there. For now. If you feel so inclined, feel free to drop by and say hello! Just say hello to all of the players in town, you'll catch onto the older player's good sides pretty fast if you just stay relatable. Also, try not to get on everyone's favorite friend's list off the get-go Also, get a cool signature, one that represents you. Like how mine represents me 97% of the time.

WOW, I was not expecting so many replies so soon! I feel better already. Say hello to Dumb Running Kirby! (I apologize to everyone ever) I haven't actually claimed a residence on any of the servers yet, but I'm looking at either 4, 5, or 6. Most likely 6 since it has the most open spaces. Welcome to EMC I have my main res on smp4 because most of my friends are there, but I hear that smp6 is also a nice server. If you ever get sick of town, there's a huge number of wild outposts, so you can play some almost vanilla minecraft

Welcome to the Empire, might I suggest smp5, although I am biased Like stated above being active on the forums and jumping in on the odd conversation every now and then will get you used to a large community setting such as EMC.
Oh nice to see another mapmaker, well Depends what game engine you use to make your maps. If your stating your a map maker outside of minecraft. If you make maps in source then Hey! We might just become best buddies. I'm a Source level designer and off to work at Valve, Good night!

I would suggest smp5 too and I'm not biased at all. >.< It depends on how busy you want the server to be that you're going to live on. Smp4 is always pretty busy, smp6 is usually really quiet, and smp5 is somewhere in between.
