  1. We've all heard of Lavender Town right? If not, here's a link explaining it all: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Lavender_Town

But.... Have you heard of Lavender Town Syndrome?
Lavender Town Syndrome is the generalised name for the 'side effects' that happen when you are exposed to this town's eerie tune for extended periods of time. It is also probably Pokemon's most well know creepypasta http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Lavender_Town_Syndrome
Although nobody died or was drove to insanity from listening to this tune (phew), it does have some disturbing side effects
    .Headaches
    .Nausea
    .Dizzyness
    .Drowsyness
These side effects are caused by the binaural frequencies hidden inside the tune. However only certain people can hear these frequencies (Effects children under 15 mostly, but it is possible for anybody to hear them, me being one of them)

Use headphones, they work best :D

Now on YouTube, I've saw a few videos of people listening to this tune for as long as they can handle and describing the side effects, kinda funny to watch. (I may be evil.) They called this 'The Lavender Town Challenge'

I bet you are all thinking , MINI STAHP, dis is fake yo, but it is possible (with some audio tools) to extract the melody and leave just the binaural frequencies, therefore proving my point.

I was bored, and decided to put myself through this TORTURE, and it was horiffic... but I did last 4hrs and 29 mins before all the side effects had took over and I couldn't handle it any more.

If you are going to try this, I'm not even joking, be careful, heres a link:http://www.nyan.cat/404.php

Be prepared to go mental, and may the odds be ever in your favour :)

Top tip: Neighbours REALLY hate this coming out of speakers :p

  4. Being a big Pokemon fan, I've heard more then my share of rumours about Lavender Town. But really none of them have ever bothered me. The stories, the mysteries... I just think of Lavender Town as a normal town with a few weird people in them and an equally werid soundtrack to it.
    Nothing more

I may try this challenge later, but probably not

    Edit:
    • The background music in the Generation I games contains high-pitched sounds that are outside the typical adult hearing range, but inside the typical child hearing range. This has inspired all kinds of popular myths and conspiracy theories about the effects of the music.
It's just the type of music that brings all these strange things up

  5. hehehe. I've lasted way longer than anyone has or probably will. It's not so much creepy, but when you add dubstep and add more time in between each sound it sounds like demons tearing out your ear drums. :D
The Lavender Town Challenge: Best way to get nightmares :p

  9. not a good idea to use my new SkullCandy headphones for this........ MY SOUL IS BEING RIPPED OUT BY THE POKéMON SATAN UMG NUUUU
(also, i'm stupid, the binural frequencies are the high pitched repeated dundundindun dundundindun dundundin dun, right?)

  10. I think its that and the really low humming in the background. Why would they put this crap into a game made for little kids? (Not that many little kids play it)
  11. The Lavender Town Syndrome (also known as "Lavender Town Tone" or "Lavender Town Suicides") was a peak in suicides and illness of children between the ages of 7-12 shortly after the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, back in February 27, 1996.
Oh Joy.... my 12th birthday... was... 2 months ago... (almost exactly, Oct. 29th :p)
