  1. Look at the OP, the word Christmas is everywhere. Look at the title too. If this were to happen, it would easily be backtracked to here, which could be seen as advocating a religious holiday.
I don't know about you, but the word "Christmas" makes me think "Christianity".
You didn't sound like a jerk. :p Personal preference is totally ok, and I think its fun that people are getting festive. But when it comes to the server, "it" has to tread lightly.
  2. Same for me, but for most people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. I admire that you keep in mind what Christmas is meant to be, however.
Anyway, this has gotten far off topic, which I claim part of the fault for, so let's just put it behind us and get back to what the thread is about.
  3. Your point?
I don't know what your personal case is, but as I have seen from the comments already posted, people will call Christmas "Christmas" no matter what the religion, no matter how they celebrate it. For those who don't believe in Christ, they don't mind saying Christmas so much, for as they celebrate it, they very much want to be merry and at peace with the world, just as everyone else does on such a great holiday. :)

I'm sure we would have done well as it was, looking through the other dozen Christmas related threads, none with conflict.

You don't need to go around being "that guy" where everything needs to be "politically correct". Most of us are over that notion, and want to celebrate this together in unity regardless of its name.

I'll end this being vague as you wish,
    Happy Holidays

  4. No, it will require packet work.

Also meaning it'll take atleast half an hour trying to figure out which packets to use. I'm trying to make a client-side /snow thingy at the moment, but I don't understand packets, so... :p

  5. Yeah... no. Something like this would be complex to code.

I like this idea, but maybe let it be up to the res owner, and just have something like the worldedit /snow command, that lets it snow. :p

  6. Assuming Aikar knows his packets, then it'd be easy.
  7. Random thought.
The White House is now calling Christmas Trees Holiday Trees.
    True fact.

  8. Well, my point has been proven. Thank you.

  9. I like the idea very much! As for the cleanup it wouldn't be too hard to clear ya res fro it when ya remember the good time we all had watching the snow fall. :D
  10. Well then, now I know who to go to when I need my res cleaned, because I (like a few others) simply wouldn't have the time for it.

  11. If that's the case you might want to edit your posts to change the wording a bit.
I assumed you meant we should stop saying "Christmas" on the thread because it would be offensive to some.
Edit: Unless that is what you meant. If so, that's not quite the case.
  12. How about 1 day where we can spawn snow golems on our residences?

  13. Now THAT is what I like.
Plus it would be super easy to pull off by Aikar I think.

  14. +1
Christmas ftw! (Or the snow golem idea. That sounds great.)
  15. Especially considering being "politically correct" would allow you to celebrate christmas regardless of religion. The christmas holiday we celebrate today, is actually a combination of three events, only one of them christian.

  17. And? So what? No one can call it Christmas anymore?
  18. jk, I appreciate the thought process there, and pretty much agree with what you are saying there, but really, people can celebrate what they choose, and as far as I know, the majority (if not all) the staff is some form of Christian (or whatever the correct term for it is (sheesh, so many branches)). It's kind of like how in school systems, how there always seems to be a break convienently placed around a Christian holiday (winterbreak Christmas) Spring break (this ones a bit of a stretch but Easter) yet none for Jewish/Islam/Hindu/Bhuddist/Other religions.

I myself am Jewish and have been making a large portion of the santa hats (and one santa coat) you all have been seeing around the servers, and while I don't celebrate Christmas, I put a hat on my skin to be a bit more festive. My holidays ended almost a month ago.

Also understand that while there are a large number of religions, the servers are based in America, a mainly Christian (bunches of branches here) country, and is not expected to do things for all holidays of all religions.

Sorry to go on on this kind of rant on your thread Inu, but I felt that my opinion should be stated.

Happy Holidays to all, and enjoy the remainder of 2013!

  19. Well, I've said enough here.
So I'll just leave you with this.

    It's kinda ridiculous now.

  20. People can still call it christmas, as that is it's name. But I'm just stating that christmas(or the general events of the day) isn't a 100% christian celebration anymore.
