  1. what about creating different spawn points? for example: 10,000 SW 10,000 NW 10,000 SE 10,000 SW or at a completely different distance away from the central spawn?
  2. Regardless of precautions taken, there will always be an exploit. Nothing is infallible. So, sadly, as this community grows.... so do the risks of the legit players.

More moderators could help, but no player wants to feel watched continually....

As long as a happy medium is maintained, everything shall persevere.
  3. As someone who essentially lives in the wilderness I am torn, but stand by my decision to support the regeneration proposal. My colleagues and I have spent considerable time developing deep geofronts with total self-sufficiency, but we conclude they can be constructed again, likely in a better fashion, with the resources recovered from these endeavors.

I humbly submit a couple ideas to help this along:
As Henry_Loenwind posted, WorldGenerationControl for Bukkit may help here, assuming it is not already in use. Additionaly it's ability to generate circular map sections and repair lighting is sexy.

The temporary ability to teleport to a more convenient location (/bed, /home, named portal as in town, etc.) in the wild would be very helpful in the somewhat extensive recovery procedure some members will be soon undertaking.

Temporarily protect certain regions, e.g. with Residence for Bukkit (since WorldGuard is a pain) to prevent griefing during the vulnerable deconstruction period. I do realize this is asking a bit much.
  4. Has anyone suggested making glass blocks collectable (instead of just breaking) for the week leading up to the reset? I only ask because I floated my boat by a giant beach house made mostly of glass today, and thought, "Man, that sucks! That player can't reclaim ANY of that!"

.. and I thought I heard somewhere there's a MOD or something to allow you reclaim glass.... just a thought.....
  5. Well at least we get bigger land for our creations like my cobble generator
  6. Yeah RESET the wilderness I to think it would be a very good idea:). Like you said the wilderness is not like a nuclear testing field it IS ONE. So I definatley vote YES!
  7. I'm pretty much done with this thread now for the fact that it's overwhelmingly in favour of a reset.

As I said before, I applaud those that live in the Wild but agree for a Reset. It's honourable and it's the right thing to do, and for those that are against it, I'd say again perhaps you need to look at your reasons.

    "I'll lose my mob grinder!"

Community Values and all that, eh?

    Roll on the Vault access!

  8. I've got to ask, assuming there isn't a massive amount of no voters hiding under a bush waiting to pounce at the last minute, when we get a week in order to collect our things, if we use it for other things will that be against the rules?

I imagine it'll only take me half a day to empty all my chests, and I'm not going to bother dismantling anything, would I get in trouble if I, say, chopped down a couple of jungle biomes and used the vault to not have to make trips?
  9. This is, ostensibly, going to be before terrain regeneration, are you going to trek out to 30K to do your clear-cutting? Additionally consider that it wouldn't really matter as the world will be regenerated anyway, and it wouldn't significantly affect resource availability on the market.

Unless you are trying to mimic a Tasmanian logging company I don't see the point.
  10. Unless stated otherwise, I will be taking full advantage of this feature like many others no doubt will. It wont be any massive undertaking, just making life a touch easier for a week as far as getting things like sand, etc, together go. Once I've cleared out my Wild abodes (A day - two days) then I'll probably stock up on some basics that I'm always running short of.

  11. My wild base is about 30k out, I planned on emptying that then I figured I'd make the most of it while I was out there. There's several jungle biomes relatively close so I thought it would be good to get some more saplings while I'm at it.
  12. Honestly, we can't actually track what players do with that 1 week free vault. So, any resources collected will be assumed to have been reclaimed from their wild endeavors. It still requires effort, so I personally will be "turning a blind eye" to this whole thing. Griefing claims will be monitored and researched, as this will be a prominent time for it to occur.

Basically, we can't say to anyone not to use the free vault for whatever purpose they deem, as long as they don't find a way to duplicate items using it or otherwise exploit it beyond free transfer of equipment at the time.

  13. yes yes yes but when is it going to happen
  14. This sounds completely reasonable to me, and under Twitch's sanctionno less. The main concern for me is essentially wanton destruction and theft, recovery of valuable non-renewable commodities will not take long.
  15. Personally I think it's needed. The wilderness of smp1 for example is a likely recognition of Chernobyl !

  16. Resetting gets my vote, it'd make a nice change of pace, leave everyone on equal footing and deal with the terrible mess people have of the wilderness near spawn locations. It looks like 20,000 Voltorb had a self-destruct party!
  17. I would go with a yes. A fresh start would be nice.
  18. Yeah, I too plan on using this to my full advantage. And really, it's no different than collecting resources for your wild camp, and this whole vault access thing is to preserve the resources of your wild camp.
  19. This will not be against the rules, it will just be a nice week long bonus :)

  20. Perfect. This is how I feel about it as well... There is no way for us to monitor its usage and would be completely unfair to dictate who can or can not use the feature. :)

Everyone who wishes, take advantage of and enjoy the 1 week bonus of free vault access in the wilderness/nether/end. :D
