Accidentally Updated? Read this

  1. Bump for all the people who have updated :)
  2. What about Linux?
  3. According to Edmund and Google there's no way to do this in Linux, You'll just be stuck with waiting/MCnostalgia.
  4. get minecraft version changer its for all!!! you can get to 1.3.1 all the way down to indev!!!!!!!! http://mcvc.in/download
  5. I wouldn't trust that if I were you. There Download counter is false, It's a random number inserted by them. Not a counter.

As seen by looking at the 'Page accessed' and the 'Downloaded'
  6. According to me and my ways there is a way :p

    Here is how:

    1. Once you have installed Minecraft on a Linux operating system (I am running Ubuntu 12.04). Go to you /home in you files.
    Step1.png

    2. The do CTRL+H. You should see something like this:

    Step2.png

You should see a .minecraft folder.

    3. Click it:

    Step3.png

And you should see all the .minecraft files like on Windows.

    4. Go into the bin folder:

    Step4.png

Just back up your minecraft.jar file or name it "Minecraft1.2.5" and then update and when you want to switch versions change the current versions .jar to a different name and change the "Minecraft1.2.5" .jar back to "minecraft.jar"

Though if you update on accident there is now way to get back to you previous version ATM.

    Any questions?
  7. Problem is, This thread shows you what to do AFTER you've updated, Problem with method is you needed to have backed up before. Which means you in turn don't need this thread.
  8. Can we also put "NOTE: The following method only works if you have a backup drive enabled" under Mac? That would probably help clear it up.
  9. True. Though if you were really desperate you could download this: http://mcvc.in/download and it would change your minecraft version.
  10. Done.
  11. You don't accidentally update.
You purposely update and want to play EMC.
  12. It's very easy to accidentally update
    For example.
    1.3.1 Oh yeh! *Spam yes*

    Wait.. EMC hasn't updated.. Crap!
  13. Hmm. Im guessing most players clicked 1.3 and then wanted to play EMC?
  14. I know I used to do it all the time (Heck I actually did it for 1.3.1 yesterday) So many people probably do too.
  15. Sorry, I must disagree with you on that point. For example, I let my youngest grandson (you may say "more fool you for leaving him unattended") on this afternoon to play on single player - he was having difficulty in normal mode and wanted to go on peaceful. He got mixed up, and reloaded Minecraft and clicked on the update .

Thanks ever so much for a well written manual on how to revert back to 1.2.5 - It should definitely be pinned :cool:
  16. Your signature isn't true :p Windows is extremely basic compared to mac (but macs are terrible for gaming and coding, only good for graphics designing and internet browsing). Windows runs games, makes it easier to make music and is good for newbies due to its simplistic design. Ubuntu isn't good for gaming unless its Minecraft, but it's good for all of them! :p
  17. You bumped this why.
  18. Thank you for that thoughtful and relevant post. It really added to the discussion! /sarcasm.
