Bring change to EMC

  1. As I look back on the forums, I see how active this server used to be. What if we all tried to get it back active again? I believe it would take most of the dedicated players to bring it back.
What if we implemented a new status,
President of EMC we could run an Honest election, with each candidate being an active player in the community, well known, and trustworthy. This person would look at rules in town, and maybe add certain perks, who knows what they could be..... This would change all sorts of stuff......
If this was to happen, what rules or policies could players enforce? Taxes? Effect the market for items? Set maximum prices for shops?
Obviously, this would be up to staff, but I think new ideas and a little bit of change would bring this server back around to where it has MORE players then it did when it was in its "hayday"

I challenge everyone who has read this far, to stop what you are doing, and give the empire minecraft server a shout on your social medias, and get some new players interested in joining! Also, leave a comment on what you think the presidential candidate could do for this server, as far as rule changes, taxes, etc....

If you have read this far, leave a like!

  2. That's easier said than done. Nonetheless, I do think there may be a solution for those that don't want to live all alone and isolated in their own outpost, with the limitations of a town residence or with the authoritarian governments of most outposts: a community outpost with a democratic government that invests in its infrastructure both within itself and to connect itself to town readily. Even that has been a years-long challenge, but it's the best I can think of and still a thing I've tried very hard to get as close as possible to.
  3. what SMP is it on?

  4. Market manipulation/control is contrary to EMC’s past, and I don’t think it would be welcome.

but other ideas… nothing is preventing an active player or group of players of starting their own activities to bring prosperity to EMC such as We3 bringing up Outpost, or other examples of groups which has big influence on the EMC community, from the public farm era, when smp8 , smp7 and, later, other smps bringing groups of players creating these facilities - to +deco which created a trend & incentivized the collaboration of dozens of vendors. Also massive player events such as Amazing Race, JDHallows Hogwarts experience etc. have added their own little grain of sand to the legacy of EMC.

There’s nothing really stopping anyone from just creating their own government or goals. There are many factors which lead to EMC current state of affairs, however given the 13-year old rich history of EMC of mostly vanilla gamplay does affect the culture and goals of enjoyment that people seek when they use their little free time they have in their lives to play in EMC.

I’d be curious to how you think your ideas might benefit EMC, if you have a proposal feel free to send me a pm for a Grant https://empireminecraft.com/threads/tuq’s-venture-capitalist.87674/

PS. The only thing I’ll mention about the state of things is that many players have had their main goals accomplished.. after X years of playing mostly vanilla the matter of coming back mostly boils down to motivation & creativity for their projects (including available time to play), or friendships.

As a last random thought… more of a funny/radical idea of mine in relation to the presidency idea you mentioned: removing access to public farms. It would be curious to see how activity, market, and enjoyment of EMC would shift among player base. Something as silly as adapting No Shave November to No AFK-Farming November

  5. i feel like no afk farm november would be incredible..... that would really shake things up if they slowed tick speed really slow for a month

  7. I think telling friends about EMC has a higher chance of success than changing up the community's structure. However, my hypothesis is that there is simply not much interest in community-driven Java Minecraft anymore, with the exception of whitelisted servers.
