Last night, I was mysteriously unable to launch Minecraft. It worked a few days prior just fine with no attempts to launch in the intervening days. I tried restarting my computer but to no avail. Instead, I got a cerulean popup with white letters that said, "This app can't open" followed by, "Check the Windows Store for more info about Minecraft Launcher." The options it gave me were "See in Store," "Copy to clipboard" and "Close." If I click copy to clipboard then paste, this is what it pastes: "Check the Windows Store for more info about Minecraft Launcher." If I click see in store, I get this link: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9PGW18NPBZV5?ocid=pdpshare Is there any way I can get Minecraft to launch again without reinstalling the launcher (which I tried but it wouldn't do) or going through the grueling process of upgrading to Windows 11? It clearly isn't my PC being inadequate; I have a x64-based processor, not an ARM-based processor. Furthermore, I had absolutely no issue launching Minecraft once I got an updated driver to fit my new graphics card a month and a half ago; this is the first time I've had any issues since then. Last but not least, I'm clearly not in S mode because not only can I use browsers besides Microsoft Edge, I literally never do use Microsoft Edge; I'm typing this on Google Chrome on my PC right now. If this is helpful, I will note that I can still launch Transport Fever 2 and it isn't any more laggy than usual nor having any altered graphics; I've been playing it instead in the meantime. Please help! I'm once again forced into an indefinite hiatus until this mysterious and shocking issue is solved. Technical issues are the worst!
https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download I would recommend installing the "DOWNLOAD WINDOWS LEGACY LAUNCHER" option. Don't use the launcher from the Microsoft Store.
It worked! I was unable to get my other (We3_10AC) account working with the legacy launcher, but at least this one does work!
Unfortunately, I still can't get We3_10AC working with the legacy launcher, so I'll probably have to upgrade to Windows 11 once I can afford to go to the computer place for diagnostics again to make sure I'm all set for that and see what needs to be done. Most of my in-game stuff is with We3_10AC, so I'm still seriously set back by this development and unlikely to be active until it's resolved. I was hoping if I just tried again when not already exhausted by getting it to partly function in the first place, it may work out, but unfortunately my doubt seems to be well-founded. Thanks, though! The legacy launcher could still be handy in the meantime.
Both have been. The legacy launcher just doesn't seem to register that fact for one of them like it does for the other and the normal launcher does for both.
Do you get a message that you should migrate your account, then? (if that's still a thing) Please give us more info.
For whatever reason, my normal Minecraft launcher seems to be working again. I felt the urge to try it this morning, and it worked! I noticed that I had automatic windows updates off after replacing my graphics card and turned them on to do what I could. I doubted it'd do much, but it seems to make the difference!
